Tyre (or Tire) choice for a 20" folder
Hi,
I've just ordered new rims for my Dahon Speed 6 as 3 years of commuting in London, being left outside my digs in all weathers and never having been cleaned have resulted in the braking surfaces wearing badly.
Now that the wee Dahon (I have become very fond of the bike) is safely ensconsed in my garage up here in Scotland I've decided on some TLC. I will rebuild the wheels with new rims/spokes but was thinking of changing the tyres (one of which is the original supplied, the other some no name brand nicked from my unicycle when the original rear wore through)
Any suggestions? Basically I want to avoid anything too balloon like, preferably as narrow or fast running as possible.

I like the 1.5 schwalbe marathons on my daughters bike. Not too fat, not too thin. puncture resistant and VERY smooth.

If you want fast tires, Kojak is a good choice.
Look also at Schwalbe comparison table. It gives relative speed, grip, etc.

I'll look into these choices.
I'm tempted by the Duranos (price and narrow), but they may be a bit too narrow - wonder if they give a very harsh ride?
The current tyres are 1.75 inches, which roll ok but I feel something less than 1.5 inch would be better.
I built the back wheel today - now a lovely strong back wheel with Kinetic 20" rim (black) from Evans. Looks really cool.
If I get the chance I'll build the front tomorrow. Then new tyres and the Dahon will be sparkly clean!

1.75" is on the wide side. With 1.5", I had good results with Maraton Racer. Fast, reasonably durable and has grip even on sand and pebbles (compared to to the Kojack I used before).
