how different would that versus this one .... ? Obviously you have the "GT" seastays on the second pic..and yours doesnt fold
just wondering ....
I would really like Dahon to bring this bike into the US next year ... forget the carrier, even if you can stand it up on it and roll around pretty easy. I just think it makes the bike look ugly ..

I've tried to get the Smoothhound, and no dice here in the USA. If this comes over here I'd forget all about a Dahon Clinch. I love the bike,...

These were previous designs with 451 wheels -- the one smallwheeler is working on now is 349 wheels.

Neatness counts. :p

i am open to any suggestions.

How much room between the stay bridge and tire? Might be able to fab a plate that screws into the fender hole, then mount the brake to that. I have seen some clamp on brake mounts for putting front brakes on track bikes without drilling the fork;might be able to find one of those to clamp to the stays.

Edit: found one.

Very nice marxmini, wish my moulton speed had that same rear removable tube, alas mine is solid and I don't want to cut it I also don't really want to put the rack back on but I am on a budget so I am just going to change the stem and bars etc and powdercoat the rack, change the cables for new ones all round and fit newer transfers and cable guides from the moulton spares guy!

these look great.

marxmini - how is that derailleur treating you? i'm curious about how well that actually works.

the rear derailleur works like a normal one. shifts perfectly. no issues. i thought that it would shift differently as well.

i would love to own this bike. i am beginning to appreciate the simplicity of the single speed track bike.

i found that many of the original parts for the moulton F frame were so expensive so i went the hot rod route with this build.

i am not a purist and i use components to make the bike more enjoyable to ride on the road. this build used the tried and tested shimano 600 arabesque group, vuelta 60t chain ring, velocity rims, kojak tires (white letters erased with sharpie, ha ha), cinelli unicanitor saddle, 3ttt drop bars.

cheers to you and good luck on your build!

those are beautiful components. i have slowly accumulated a near complete suntour superbe pro group that i intend to use in much the same way. the parts are currently resting comfortably in a drawer just waiting for the right bike to come along..

tyrell prototype for 18".

this is a beautifully designed frame. i hope there are some additional refinements before they release it.

I am loving that tyrell.
Looks better than a birdie. Twin tubed, compact fold, chain length maintained in fold, and well supported seatpost like a bike friday that can be shorter....
Nice

bucketspurple 09-30-14 11:45 PM

Hello! I have been enjoying viewing your bikes here:) They are actually all amazing and stunning. However, among those that I have seen here, I prefer " Moulton". I do like the style and shape. I even like it because it is a folding bike.

bhkyte 09-30-14 11:56 PM

Moulton doesn't fold.

Many Moultons are however separable frame bikes and do break down specifically for travel so they are in the folding bike spectrum really though not on the quick commuter fold end of it... Mr.Picky-pants ;)

I like this Tyrell prototype as well; not sure I agree with the "Looks better than a birdy" comment, especially the new monocoque designs, but also the older design as well. As a Birdy owner, I do appreciate the chain length maintained in the fold and the rollers at the bottom of the folded package, but that cutout in the NDS "seatstay" makes me wonder if the crank positioning while folding isn't just as particular as the Birdy.

I fail to see much difference at all between this Tyrell being inspired by a Birdy and the Dahon Curl being inspired by a Brompton, aside from the lack of critical poutrage.
