neos 1.0 rd with road shifters, possible?

hello, I'm planning to convert my Tern D8's handlebar to a bullhorn type. before I make certain changes, I would like to know if there would be a compatibility issue with regards to the change of gear levers. I am planning to buy a Shimano Claris sti 8spd shifter for my 8spd Neos 1.0 rd. any thoughts on this?

pretty sure that you need a Sram shifter instead of Shimano

Of course it just might be cheaper to get a Tern rear derrailleur hanger conversion , a new Shimano rear derailleur and the shifter ....

that's too bad since I like my Neos RD and I have no plans of replacing it yet, unless I go 9 or 10 speed. maybe I will find SRAM shifter instead. any other thoughts guys?

As far as I know shimano and sram indexing is interchangeable. I might be misunderstanding the situation.

As far as I know the rear isn't interchangeable. The SRAM system has double the cable pull. They claim it results in more accurate shifting. Makes sense to me. The latest Dynasys MTB system from Shimano is also double the pull.

Unless you have specific SRAM shifters made for Shimano (SRAM Attack shifters?) then you can't swap them.

Rear Shifting | CTC

I believe that the cassette spacing for SRAM and Shimano is the same. Otherwise, the link above will guide you on how to mix and match.

I'm speaking from experience--ditch the neos derailleur. Make life easy on yourself.
