Alternatives to SKS for mudguards/fenders?

Hello

Title says it all: Besides SKS, are there other brands that provide fenders for 20" wheels that would look a bit sexier?

I find the standard fenders provided by Tern a bit boring on otherwise nice-looking bikes:

Verge P9L | Tern Folding Bike and Folding Bicycle Accessories | Worldwide

Thank you.

As boring as it sounds I hate to say that they are the BEST out there for the 20 inchers. I've actually looked around also for better fenders but found them inadequate full coverage for real rain or just felt cheap and would break easily if it knock it too hard from my twice a day folding I do.

Sexier? what positions do you use with your mudguards?

Im Straight as far as having physical relations with my bike parts .

But I will say I bought Molded polycarbonate 20" mudguards sold under the Planet Bike brand in the US, for My Bike Friday Build..
they packaged them as an Each , for Recumbents . so 1F , 1 R. (the 16 " is only made for in Front , BF Tikit uses 2)

If you have the money there are Hand Made hardwood Fenders.. http://www.woodysfenders.com/store/

Thanks for the infos.

So it's either SKS or PlanetBike ("Recument" models).

If you dont like the plastic Collet strut fixing scheme, you can(?) Make Your Own.

Which part does "plastic collet strut fixing scheme" refer to?

fietsbob 01-14-15 03:04 PM

1, do you know what a collet is* ? Collet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

*standard machine tool concept.. kind of like 'chuck' http://www.jacobschuck.com/ but without geared compression.

the way they hide the cut strut end, is inside that . You should See that on the PB website.

Thanks.

As for SKS, it appears that only the Bluemels are available for 20" wheels.

Bluemels is A brand name absorbed by SKS .. that is where your link goes .

I have an Old pair of 700c Bluemels Sovereigns I got in the 90s, same Chromoplast Material ..

I installed the Bluemels on the Tern Verge P20, and as expected, the bike now looks a bit unsightly.

As an alternative to the fuggly 53mm Bluemels, I wish a company would provide some thinner and flat fenders à la Strida:

(Note: The Verge above is not my bike but it looks just the same with the SKS fenders on).

With Flat Material A DIY set is not that much of an Up Hill Slog.
