June Photo Thread

Trying to make this one as inclusive as I can - this is probably the best month (for those of us in the northern hemisphere at least) for one of the most photogenic subjects - flowers. Wildflowers, cultivated flowers, exotic and weeds, gardens and meadows, plants in pots, bunches of flowers and individual specimens, macro or landscape.

The rules are simple:
-You must be the photographer
-One entry per month
-Try making it an image from the last year.

Voting:
- Vote for your top 3
- No voting for yourself

And if you are the winner one month ... you're in charge the month after the next. For example ... if you win in January, you're in charge of March. If you win in April, you're in charge of June.
You pick the theme, you count the votes, you announce the new winner.

I will be away for the last week of June and the beginning of July without internet access (not many hotspots in the Canadian Arctic) so there will be a delay around that time. If someone else wants to get the voting going before I get back, that would be great.

A couple of shots to get things rolling:

Thanks for letting us know, and one of us will get it going then.

The two shots above were just to get things going - here's my entry: Prairie Smoke.

For now. Last week at the San Francisco Botanic Gardens. Unfortunately I did not see a sign for this plant. I just know it was in the South Africa section.

I lived in SA for quite some time. this is called aProtea, and while not the King Protea, one of the most common plants in the Fynbos around Table Mountain. to see a variety of these growing wild is spectacular. great shot!!!

Yes, Protea ... one of several varieties. We have that one and a different variety in our yard.

It was an impressive plant - roughly 4 ft high and wide and loaded with blooms.

I just clicked through to the full-size of that shot. Wow, that's gorgeous!

Yeah, they're big. Ours is a bit bigger ... possibly a little overgrown.

Not too much in the way of flowers around here just now, although the poor cold roses are trying to bloom. So this was taken last summer ... early December ...

I don't know that I'm going to get out to take a pic expressly for the monthly photo, so I'm submitting this, something that I took about a month ago with desktop and phone wallpapers/backgrounds in mind (this cropping is specifically for a Facebook Cover Photo) -

Chive Buds
