Funny I came across this thread tonight...Not as good a story but I had my Specialized Hard Rock Stolen a couple weeks ago right out of my fenced back yard (along with my kids 2 mountain bikes). It wasn't a high end bike but it "fit" and I liked it and I wanted it to last another year. I bought a '04 Haro 8.2 and so far I like the bike...so there I was riding it on the trails near my house and a couple neighborhood kids mentioned a bike in the water and there it was, about 1/2 mile away. I waded in and drug it out. Not sure how it will clean up but it looks like it should.
