Google for a free program called "Handbrake".

If it's copy protected you need a ripper. Handbrake wont do that.

Apparently you have to use a real computor... not a "computor-lite."

Personal movies can be uploaded to youtube and watched from the youtube app, or facebook. Possibly google drive but i dont think it holds videos. Or some other cloud holding site. I've seen copyrighted stuff on youtube and myspace back when, sometimes in 15 min segments.

you have to ripp the dvd to file than can be accessed, a dvd usually copy protected so you wil need dvd ripper program on your pc, and than use handbrake to change the size the file smaller.

a ful movie can be uploaded to youtube if the uploader account is verified, so it does'nt have to cutted in 15minutes segment

For many DVDs, DVDShrink (free program) will work well to rip the DVD. Typically what I do is rip it to an ISO (disc image). DVDShrink will automatically decrypt so you can use Handbrake. I usually change DVDShrink to use no compression which will be faster and a little higher quality (it defaults to recompressing to fit on a 4.7GB DVD-R). Once you have the ISO, then open the file with Handbrake and it should automatically select the main title.

Some DVDs have more difficult copy-protection measures which DVDShrink can't handle. I also use AnyDVD which is paid software but will handle anything you throw at it. Disney DVDs are notoriously laden with copy protection, for instance.

I usually wash the DVDs with water and a dab of dish soap before ripping. It sucks to get 75% through a disc and then have it hang up on a smudge.

or you can try this: ok, you already have the dvd, so you own the movie legally, do you feel ok to download the pirated version of the movie on the net?, usually they already come in small files, compactly processed, without loosing to much quality on the process..... only if you feel ok.

Handbrake will absolutely make a digital backup of your DVD media. You need to either copy a *.dll from VLC into the Handbrake folder (a good video player) or use AnyDVD to perform the decryption. Specific directions exist online...

Google "VLC handbrake" and the first 3 results tell you what to do. I had to remove the '-2' part of the file name to get it to work with the latest handbrake.
