Why I try to avoid Box Stores.

Elder Abuse is rude. . Shopper rage does not have to happen just during the Noel shopping season. Don't they know, Nutella is bad for your health. Too much Palm Oil.

Man, 78, Punched in the Face by Fellow Costco Shopper in Dispute Over Nutella Samples

A 78-year-old Costco shopper was punched in the face Sunday morning after getting into a dispute with another customer who he believed was taking too many Nutella waffles from a sample cart, police said.

Burbank resident Derrick Gharabighi, 24, had snagged several samples when the elderly shopper told him to take just one, Burbank police Officer Cindy Guillen told Times Community News.

He had an adverse reaction to the Nuttella overdose that made him aggressive, perfectly understandable. Sue Nestle or whoever produces that ****e.

I love box stores. Cheap prices and entertainment all in one location.

Yeah, I love how they practically strip search you every time you exit the store.

That would mean that you don't know that the same stuff is available there as at most any other store. Jif Peanut Butter is Jif Peanut Butter. Tide detergent is Tide detergent etc.

But hey. If you don't go that makes more room for the rest of us.

I had a group of customers become angry at me at Costco over samples once. I did not understand the proper protocol and cut in line. They began calling me names. Ugh.

If by box stores you mean Target and Costco, I partake occasionally... everyplace else I avoid... Costco doesn't really carry cheap stuff but Target will but I only buy name brands...

Anyway if this is the reason the OP avoids BBS then it is lacking in logic and ignores the other good (depending on ones perspective) reasons too.

Actually, the stuff manufactured for big box stores, especially wally world, may not be the same product manufactured for retail sale outside of BBSs. Manufacturing runs in the qtys they order are typically on demand, to a price point, and very well may involve cheaper ingredients or lesser final quality.

I used to work for a company that sold a ton of sku's at both Wallyworld and the box stores. I never heard of this. Unique packaging - yes. Lower prices - sure. Cheaper ingredients? We never did that.

Not that I really care. Whatever, it's OK with me. But, how many threads from say- Bike advocacy - ends up in P and R. So many of us have a way of making everything political before Page 2.. I hope that not the case, But I fear by the nature of this thread that is a distinct possibility. For once, we'll hope not. Why - because the courts, police, and law breaking were involved in the event. The guy who did the punching ended up being charged. No big deal to me; not complaining , just suggesting. ? Should the thread continue, we'll see.

Not really. Although such manufacturing of consumer goods "as per customer spec" was more prevalent in the 1950's. Those days are long gone. The BIG stores have many means by which they keep prices low. Other than low price... standard items are identical.

walmart and target are not 'big box' stores. Costco, Sam's Club, and I think there's another, the point is they have limited selection of commodities in high volume (big boxes) at volume prices.

Anything MAY be possible, especially to an individual with an imagination and an agenda.
