Need sump pump

I bought a good one 16 or 17 years ago. Looking to get another good one. How long have you had yours?

I'd go to a plumbing supply store and ask for a midrange version in the flow capacity you need.

Also consider the volume and size of the pit. All the houses in my neighborhood have small 11x11x24" pits (~12gal), which hasn't been the standard for many years. I was going to put a battery backup system in, but it lacks the physical room. Mine runs a lot in spring...in years when we have a winter. I'll have it opened up to 18" dia x 22" one of these years when funds permit.

Sump pumps have a horrible life and live in the worst conditions. Proper set up is key to extended life and that includes a decent sized sump pit, anti reverse flow check valve and larger motor than really needed. Stainless steel components help too.
It is rough on the motor to cycle under full load, so the longer the discharge is to daylight, the more power you should have. That cycling under load is what kills sump pumps

Local store to my old place had Wayne sump pumps. Lifetime guarantee. They copied your receipt and had you sign a book. No matter why it quit working, it was 100% covered.

I have a battery backup unit, so I don't worry much about the quality of the main one.
