February Photo Thread and Contest

The theme this month is: Locomotion

noun: locomotion
Movement or the ability to move from one place to another.

It is open to interpretation, just like January. No rules this time.

Here's mine:

Since we don't have trains here, which is what I first thought of when I saw the word "locomotion", I decided to look up the definition.

Many different definitions, including this one:

locomotion (lō'kə-mō'shən)
The movement of an organism from one place to another, often by the action of appendages such as flagella, limbs, or wings. In some animals, such as fish, locomotion results from a wavelike series of muscle contractions.

Locomotion | Define Locomotion at Dictionary.com

That might open up some possibilities.

My entry is from a few days ago when I took my big boy camera (Pentax K-1) and Sigma 50-500mm lens to work.

I caught this juvenile bald eagle catch a fish...

Yes the eagle came up with a fish that was about a foot long.

This was taken on an overcast day standing on top of a dam on the Columbia River.

Enjoy,
Dave

clemsongirl - by a mile. Really an excellent photograph.

Deal4Fuji

c0urt

Honorable mention: Indyfabz - another excellent photograph, but taken too long ago to be eligible, if I understand the rules correctly.

I'll give it until Monday, the 6th, and then count them up.

Congratulations clemsongirl, you have the winning entry for February's "Locomotion" theme.

That means you get to pick the theme for April.
