RIP the Repo Man

(From NPR) Actor Harry Dean Stanton was cast in supporting roles for decades, and his weather-beaten face became a fixture on-screen for more than a half-century. With leading roles in the 1980s films Repo Man and Paris, Texas, he became something of a star and a cult favorite. His agent says Stanton died Friday of natural causes in Los Angeles. He was 91.

RIP to a great character actor. He reminds me of Dennis Hopper in the type of roles & movies he was cast in as he aged.

To me he will always be "the Brain" from "Escape from New York", with Adrienne Barbeau ().

I'm sure he also played guest roles in lots of 70's and 80's tv, like "Maude", "Barney Miller", "Night Court", etc.

But, now I can't remember what else I was going to say. Adrienne Barbeau

Early in career he was on the rifleman. I think he was on an episode of two and a half men. But for me, his role in Paris Texas was the most compelling.

DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!

He was one of my all time favorites who hadn't died yet.

Dillinger, Red Dawn, Kelly's Heroes, Alien, and so many others. He was such a great supporting actor/not quite leading role actor. Somehow fitting a movie that looks good where he starred comes out right after he died.

Normally when an actor I enjoyed the work of dies, I watch a movie of theirs soon after. I'm going to have to do a marathon of his.

Both had great roles in David Lynch movies, though Stanton's were more numerous.

He's been around for awhile. I'm sure I'll remember more of him before the day's over.

Honestly thought he died a while back. Then I saw him in the new Twin Peaks series. Liked him in Repo Man, of course, but also Big Love and The Straight Story.

That score may be Ry Cooder's finest work. And THAT is saying something.

It has been a long time since I've seen "Paris, Texas".
I can't say I liked it, but I also can't say I disliked it.
It was just different, and I don't regret spending the time watching it.
