Oprah Overdose

I was a big fan of 60 minutes for years but no longer. 60 minutes has decided to bring Oprah on board. I will no longer be watching.

This woman needs to take her billions and go away.

What was CBS thinking?

Old joke, still pretty tasteless and not really funny. But to each his own.

Not funny. Stay on topic please.

Also keep politics out of this thread please.

It is her political view being presented that I object to anyway. It is a billionaire that is no longer relevant in today's society trying desperately to remain in the lime light that I object. She needs to retires and just go away.

I think the OP started the political discussion right off the bat.

What's implied here is he doesn't like a woman, a very successful out spoken woman that could obviously fill Barbara Walters shoes on this show.

Maybe it's because she's a black woman...

She actually did start out with investigative journalism...I suppose YOU didn't get a car!

PS I read The Color Purple and other Alice Walker works for her, and I respect her for believing in that story.

Barbara Walters never worked for CBS AFAIK. NBC and ABC (Today with Hugh Downs, first female network news anchor, 20/20)...

Why am I not surprised that you would have that very misinformed opinion? You know nothing about me yet you seem to always be such an expert. Nice way to show off your ignorance here in foo

It must be nice to be a rich, successful black woman. That way anytime anyone has anything negative to say, your supporters can call them a jealous, misogynist racist.

Believe it on not, people sometimes don't like someone for other reasons.

I was never a fan, but didn't not like her either. Kind of like poached fish. Some people like it which is fine, just not me.

Anyway, I don't see a reason to be upset over 60 minutes adding her, but I'm a bit curious about the kind of segments she'll do. Maybe I'll watch, maybe I won't, but too soon to tell. FWIW, 60 minutes isn't what it used to be, and I rarely watch it these days, so it barely matters.

I have nothing against her personally. She is extremely intelligent and talented. She has helped an awful lot of people over her career. You have to admire that and the enormous success she has had in her own life. But wow, sometimes you just need to call it quits and fad away into obscurity. There have to be plenty of people talented enough for this spot. And if CBS thought it best to have a young black woman than wonderful. Anyone else but Oprah.

You don't me any explanation. I was simply responding to the person who implied that you didn't like her because she was a black woman.

As far as I'm concerned, everyone can like or dislike whomever they please for any reason, or for no reason.

I often ride past her house in Montecito, CA. There is even a Strava segment named after her.

Yes, who is this "Opera" of whom you speak?

Does she sing professionally? Is she bigger than a bread box? Is she known for her work in the theatre?

Lol, I lost CBS when I cut the cable, as they consider themselves HBO and offer no Roku free channel like NBC/ABC/CW. Never watched Oprah anyways.

I'd take a VW from Oprah, even a lyin' cheatin' VW. A friend of mine has 60Kmi on a Jetta that he gets to return for basically original price.

From what I remember, she got started doing a Jerry Springer type of show. I don't watch much tv and thought she'd retired a while ago. Same with 60 minutes.

Who cares? No one watches 60 Minutes anymore.
