I Will Be By The Entrance With A Bike....

What does that mean to most of you? Lets say I am meeting you? What would you think that means?

I was not selling a bike, something not bike related. Nobody else but me would be by the entrance let alone with a bike.

So what would you do? Drive out into the parking lot 75 feet away from the building and sit there, and literally stare briefly at the person you were suppose to be dealing with?

Hey I will meet you at the Bar. So you decide to wait under a light pole out in the parking lot? Huh, duh, where were you?

Christ people are dumb. And amazingly I have had this happen two other times. How can you be that dumb!

(Oh wait, I am on a social media platform.....)

Ok, so you have a bicycle... Can't you circle the parking lot a few times?

Perhaps text the person on your cell phone, or even give them a real voice call?

So you see a guy sitting on the bench with a bicycle next to him by the one and only entrance and you drive right by him and wait on the middle parking lot and briefly stare over at him? After the person you were meeting said he would be by the entrance with a bike?
Also it's a library with one entrance, and it doesn't open until 1 PM and you wanted to meet at 10:30 AM and you see a guy that your hairy dumbass looked over at (I clearly saw this moron) sitting there that fits this description on a bench, with a bike, by the one, and only entrance, with the bike leaning against a wall with a small bag hanging from the handlebars.
The average American Voter? Mods will yank that last comment......

Then he wants to send his wife to meet, sending me multiple messages about where I am, I do not own a cell phone nor do I want one nor should I need one if your dumbass would pay attention.

Just last night I got a guy wanting to meet about "The Bike" (*ucking idiot, unrelated sale) asking if I knew the model year of "The Bike". It's the fourth *ucking word in the description in the listing.

This morning myself and another person are standing outside of a local thrift store, right by, you guessed it, the entrance when a young couple walk up, and the woman says, is this place open, walks between myself, and the other gentleman, and starts pulling on the door. Her boyfriend says to her why do you think these guys are standing there?

He bought it through Ebay and I just cancelled it. Kept wanting to meet me said it was my responsibility to. Never saw me or a bike so he drives out in the parking lot and an elf was going to land next to him. This by far is the top five of dumbasses I was ever suppose to meet. Just plain dumb!

Funny, now this goofball is threatening me legally. Over a $20 item that I have had on Ebay for six months. Does the word goofball ring a bell.

I love how I said I would ship it to him Wednesday, and he keeps insisting on meeting. And I did cancel it. Correction, this is the biggest dumbass I have ever dealt with.

Hah, I blocked him, and I think his Mom bought it for him. You can't make this stuff up. The buyer from hell! And will ship and say goodbye for this hard fought $20 profit. Christ

I am getting close to walking away from selling.

(And then I find something for 50 cents and flip it for $250 )

People assume everybody has a cell also. Yep, everybody has several hundred dollars a year for a good cell phone with a nice screen. I would only need the damn thing for mobile internet for the few grocery deals you can get, and to look things up out in the wild to figure out value. It's just to expensive.
This guy was a total dipstick. After thousands of sales I would put his dumbass on the Mount Rushmore of dumbasses.

Still, if you told somebody you would meet them by an entrance, the only entrance of a not very large building, and have a bike next to you, why would you drive right by them, and wait over 70 feet away from the building like a dumbass. And this person had to read this message. And then be dumb enough to insist on meeting again after I agree to ship him the small light weight item.

The next to last message I sent him before this fiasco.

Yes, just give me the time. I will be out front by the entrance with a bike next to me.

It's a lost cause trying to avoid using a smart phone to do any kind of business, even occasional selling of small, low value items. Get a smart phone or resign yourself to more frustration.

Some sellers and buyers will not do business with anyone who doesn't have a phone for texting. Some won't agree to meet a stranger unless they can check out their social media profile. It's just the way things are. Rail all you want against newfangled tech. The world won't change to suit us.

And because I don't have a car I assume that people I meet for transactions may feel a bit suspicious, like I might be a sketchy character riding a bike to meet for buying/selling used items. I understand and try to phrase emails and texts in a neutral way. I don't mention the bike, or taking the city bus, etc., unless it's absolutely necessary.

The first time I bought a used bike from a craigslist seller - a guy who flips bikes for a living - he preferred texting only. My old flip phone was a huge PITA for texting, one button at a time. I bought another bike from him a year later. It went much more smoothly with a smart phone. He even drove me home in his shop van, both the bike I rode to meet him and the one I'd just purchased. But cooperating with his preferences for communicating helped build trust. No point fighting it.

Phones aren't that expensive. Almost every homeless person I've met has a smartphone. They conserve data by using free wifi wherever available, usually places like the QT mart or businesses that offer free wifi.

I can't afford a high end phone or service. I have an old iPhone 4s given to me a few years ago by a friend who upgraded. By 2015-'16 that 2011 tech was practically obsolete, but it still works for voice, texting and some web browsing. Some useful apps still work. I pay $50 a year for unlimited voice and text and 1 GB data per month. Check out FreedomPop. There are some compromises but overall it works well enough for my needs.

My Android phone is a Moto E4, generally affordable depending on whether it's purchased with a plan from Verizon, etc, or the unlocked version. It works better than the old iPhone with FreedomPop. Right now I have it on Mint Mobile, $15/mo for unlimited voice and text and 2GB data per month. Mint leases excess capacity from T-Mobile. Usually it's reliable with high speed data. Occasionally a text or voicemail is delayed for up to a couple of hours, which can be annoying. But that's the downside of cheap MVNOs that lease excess capacity from Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile.

Too much? FreedomPop has a completely free service. Pay a couple of bucks for the SIM, get 200 voice minutes, 500 text messages and 200-500 MB data per month. This service uses some data for voice and text (it's VOIP - voice over internet protocol) so not all data is available for email and web browsing. I use it on my backup phone and there's enough data for checking Google maps, bus routes, Uber or Lyft, etc., sparingly, if I use free public wifi whenever possible.

Ok, so let me see if I have this right.

You sold this fellow an item off eBay that he wanted to pick up personally. You arranged to meet him at a closed library with one entrance, on your bicycle. You left him the above message about meeting out front. You SEE the guy arrive in what is presumably a closed location, so likely one of if not the only car in the lot. Rather than get up and coast across the parking lot to verify this was the guy who had, indeed, purchased your item, you sit there and stare at each other for a while and go through all this posting ect.?

Passive Aggressive much? Power tripping a bit?

What was so hard about that coast across the empty lot?

I think you were being a bit of a jerk about it myself, whether he was a dummy or not.
