I believe this is great news. Not for nationalistic reasons, I don't care much about which side of the border a circuit is and I'm more of a television fan and don't care much for Verstappen. It's competitor was the TT circuit of Assen and that's only a 1.5 hour bike ride away for me.

I love it because it's a great track, very difficult with it's sweeping corners, inclines and canter. It's not good for overtaking but I believe overtaking should be hard, track position should count and with DRS it will still be a challenge. It will probably also favour the most talented drivers over the ones with more acquired skills and beeing in the Netherlands there's always a chance of rain.

I also love it because it's going to be a logistical nightmare to get all the fans and professionals in. You can see on the picture it's as tightly packed as the current Mercedes power unit, there's not just going to be a highway or an extra road constructed, and there's not many going there now and they have difficulty handling the beach visitors already. It's going to be a logistical dream if the Dutch fans come by bike, their own or the National Railways bike share program if they take the train to Haarlem. It's an excellent opportunity to show the world what can be done when peace between bikes and cars has broken out.
When I flew from SeaTac or SFO to AMS,
I rode my touring bike to a campground in Zandvoort , that afternoon ..
Located, just north of the race circuit ..

The start of FP3 not good for Vettel, with cold tires and brakes, he finds the wall. Can the team repair the car in 2 1/2 hours, prior to qualifying?

The Ferrari of Leclerc tops the chart at the end of FP3. Will there be a grid penalty for the VSC infraction?

* saw on Ggl satellite map there is a street with the family name on it,
Boulevard Marechal Leclerc, leading to a fairly large house, near the Marina..

What the heck was Ferrari thinking with the Leclerc strategy?
The team needs to get their ..it together.

A Championship drive by Hamilton.

Unfortunately Leclerc's weekend ended up in the toilet.

Bottas unlucky whole weekend, likely the fastest . Hamilton a dramaqueen and a baby during the race, self glorifying after it. He wasn't even sliding much, Grosjean did 50 laps on softs too. Vettel good, Ferrari wasn't as bad as feared on this circuit and in this temperature, so maybe they are starting to understand their car. Leclerc was not very good yesterday, then extremely unlucky, good start today but too impatient after that.

First I quite liked him personally, and mainly blamed the very British F1 world and the chauvinistic British press for him acting like a spoiled brat. But the last few years he himself is an important cog in the Hamilton marketing and glorification machine.

Have been out of town, out of the loop.

Congrats to Vettel for his first pole in 17? races. Good to see Ferrari in 1st & 3rd as they were expected to have a good run, and they came through.

Hamilton likes to make up his own heroism, like getting out of the slums of Stevenage and insulting his home town and background in the process. It's not a rich kids game anymore and it has never really been. Vettel's dad is a carpenter, I don't know about Leclerc's parents but native Monegasques don't live there for tax reasons, they are the waiters, the cooks, the cleaners, the shopkeepers, doctors and real estate agents for the global rich. Verstappen's dad comes from a kind of trailer park and a salvage yard business, Michael Schumacher's mother had to work as a waitress and his father who was a bricklayer had to get a second job to keep his son karting.

The parents have to be committed more than anything, driving to the kart tracks, preparing the kart, it's a huge time investment. Hamilton got into the McLaren program very young, from that time on he was privileged, and spoiled appearently.

That's named after general Philippe Leclerc de Hauteclocque, some WWII hero also known as Marechal Leclerc. Leclerc is a very common surname in France, it's also a supermarket chain, it's not a typically aristocratic name either because it means 'the clerk'. There is a driving school called 'leclerc' on that boulevard and I believe his dad did something in racing too, so maybe that's related. I don't know, maybe he's filthy rich, I just don't see a reason to assume he is.

Buying a seat is more a billionaire's thing these days than just an ordinary millionaire. Like daddy Stroll did for his son, he had to buy the whole team. It's an old saying in F1: The fastest way to become a millionaire is to get an F1 team, as a billionaire.
