Seems like forever since the end of the 2018 season. I am ready for the starting lights to go out in the first race of F1 2019.

At least initially, Mercedes is showing the form that has brought them 5 straight manufacturer and driver championships. Ferrari is a bit off of the pace but, should be strong in race form. Vettel was able to win Melbourne 2018 from P3, can he repeat? Leclerc could make things interesting, with a strong team and fast car, can he keep the car under him and off of the wall? Red Bull Honda, do they have the durability that Honda failed to bring to the table with McLaren?
I missed qualifying, so I was surprised to see Kimi in P7 based on his practice session runs. Haas, the best of the rest?

Line em up and turn out the lights, for the start of the 2019 season.

RIP Charlie.
Q was ho-hum at the top except for LeClerc which was nice to see a fresh face. Also nice to see Grosjean up there. It remains to be seen if he's over his crashing mode. lol
It's gonna take Ricciardo a few races.
So many new young drivers too.
Also, if anyone hasn't watched it yet, the Netflix F1 series is good.

For Melbourne it wasn't a bad race. Hamilton gets beat, from off the starting line by Bottas who ends up being the class of the field. Hamilton gets second closely followed by Verstappen, impressive run by Honda. Vettel and Leclerc, the latter who had the pace over his team mate but was reminded of the pecking order, found fourth & fifth. Otherwise, there was some passing, some attempted passing, some off line driving, and mechanical failures for some.

Bahrain in 2 weeks.

At least it wasn't Hamilton!
Man, Ferrari off the pace. Need to step it up a bit. Ricciardo tried too hard to impress his countrymen.

It wasn't like he was faster, Vettel ran into tyre trouble because of the strategy.

At the time Leclerc caught Vettel, Leclerc was faster. He had ran Vettel down from 7+ seconds back.
From F1.com; Vettel had to suffer the ignominy of team mate Leclerc being told to hold station behind him,

Yup. Vettel was outclassed by LeClerc those last few laps. I remember his radio com with his engineers was asking why are we slow? Announcers said he should have known why.

The prancing horses have the pace through FP2. Up .6 sec. over the Mercedes, will it hold through FP3 and qualifying.

FP3
Ferrari gains a tic in FP3, although a reversal at the top. Tomorrow could see an interesting race for the typical mid-pack runners.

Congrats to Leclerc! Will he be allowed to hold position if he gets a good start?
Mercedes found some pace but, they will have a long day if they can't find some additional speed prior to the race start.

Ferraris definitely faster than MB today. They way Vettel ate up Hamilton after the pit stops showed it. Hope LeClerc can keep this pace up!

What a disappointment for Leclerc, the race should have been his, he had the field covered.
Congrats to Mercedes and Hamilton, luck was on their side today. A Silver Arrows 1-2, Leclerc holds 3rd by result of the safety car, Verstappen has to follow for 4th, Vettel recovers to get 5th.

A good race over all, passes happening throughout the field. Should be a good season.

Does carbon fiber make sparks when dragged on the ground? wheel rims certainly do, when tire punctures..

F1 used titanium on their skid plates way back when. I'm sure they've found something much more valuable to put down there now.

FP2 and especially FP3, were a mess.

Qualifying will be interesting.

A Mercedes front row led by Bottas, Ferrari locks up the second row, and the Red Bull of Verstappen 5th fastest. A touch over 0.500s from 1st to 5th.
It will be an interesting run into the first turn at the start of the race.

F1 went back to titanium skid plates so the cars would spark and increase the excitement (they needed something, F1 is almost as boring as a NASCAR super-speedway race). For about 15 years it was wood because it was light and durable enough to meet the requirements (10mm max thickness at the start of the race, 9mm minimum thickness at the end of the race) and didn't shed particles that could cause punctures.
