As I recall, the actual portion of Armstrong setting foot on the moon would have been in black and white even on a color TV. It was broadcast in black in white for a variety of reasons.

The real question is did Apollo 11 have a 3.5mm jack?

Banned.
It wasn't so much the black and white TV, but the bad tube that I was referring to, making it difficult to discern what was going on.

I was 15 years old. We were visiting family in Alberta, and watching on their ancient TV. I remember a long span of time between the landing and the first step.

Why was Woodstock a big deal actually? It was one of Hendrix best performances despite the percussionist beeing far from sober, but that must have escaped most people. There had been music festivals before with simular music and a lot of the same artists, like Montery. Wasn't it more of big deal in hindsight as it was the beginning of the end of an era? Or was it just the size?

The private companies contracted by the space program to build Apollo...is part of the military industrial complex that also build bombs and ICBMs.
It was a successful political stunt...but they could have instead spend the hundreds of billions of tax dollars on poverty and racism down on earth.

Even the military-industrial complex offers technical trickle-down to the non-defense world. Where would commercial aviation be without having stood on the shoulders of the giant of military aviation?
I'm not saying spending 'tax dollars on poverty and racism' would have been a waste, or that bombs and icbms are good, I'm just saying spending on the space program was not a waste.
That's all I'll say because this thread shouldn't get P&R'd.

Every day a winding road
The scientific and technical advances achieved by the space program have yielded great benefit to the world. How much longer would it have taken to develop computers, or to launch communications satellites?

How ever you look at it the moon landing was the greatest technical achievement of most of our life times. Certainly mine. Just think, there is far more computing power in your little smart phone than all of the command and landing modules.

And yet we have another member that can't resist having this thread moved to P&R.

I was 4 in the summer of 1969.
I'm sure my parents had me watch the moon landing, but the magnitude of the moment was lost on my young brain.

To attempt to steer the thread back to the topic:
1) There wasn't much color on the moon when we got there, so a color broadcast wouldn't have looked much different than black and white
2) to me, Woodstock became a big deal after the fact due to the marketing of recordings made there and came to symbolize the ideals of the summer of love that others tried to cash in on. Wasn't one of the reasons the Stones had their concert at Altamont due to their not being at Woodstock?
