Sick Of Talking Heads!

CNN, FOX, MSNBC, HLN, BBC, even Fed Ex and UPS . STFU already! I donít believe anything you say! And for you UPS and Fed Ex quit promising a delivery day when you are always a day or two late! Iím amused by professional liars known as Talking Heads! Now I like the band Talking Heads they are great. Same As It Ever Was!

The problem with "media" is media is just the vehicle with which information is conveyed. It could be paper, compact discs, 3 Ĺ floppies, photographs, moving pictures, moving pictures with sound, or even just sound...The term "media" has no relation to the quality of information contained therein.

What we have a problem with is a shortage of "Journalism."

Low quality, information sources will often deride "journalism" as fundamentally flawed, fake, or unreliable in order to keep, gain, or maintain market share for it's own particular distribution method.

Journalism stands on it's merits regardless of the media it's conveyed on. The best journalism often has no profit motive or consideration to interfere with its integrity.

As for UPS...What's with the signature confirmation hollabaloo? At least show up with my bike parts the day you say. Time off work is expensive...

You're reading my mind Honjo! I was just thinking a snarky response to whom it favorite talking head is would be Byrne. I've been added the talking heads to my Pandora and when this must be the place comes on, it's my jam when running.

Don't blame the media or anyone/anything else. What we lack is critical thinking.

I ran into David Byrne walking on the street in Hollywood around 1990 while showing some out-of-town relatives around the place. My relatives didn't know who he was! He was in town on business, not for a concert. Nice guy, definitely the best-dressed person on the street, we didn't make any commotion to attract any attention. Got a picture somewhere of him and me. (film camera). Seen Talking Heads 2X live, always very sharp musically. Also saw David Byrne on his tour with Vincent in 2018, great show in an actual theater with classical backing musicians and great acoustics.

T.V. 'talking heads': T.V. 'news' shows have turned into variety shows that'll show anything that attracts an audience and advertisers. No thanks!

My wife bought us tickets to go see David Byrne in concert last year. They mailed out a free CD of what he would be performing. It was by far the worst thing he has ever produced.

We skipped the concert and ate the tickets.

Yeah for me he's hit and miss with his contemporary stuff. I thought "Love this giant" was good with St. Vincent but I guess that's almost eight years old now. I think he's best when coupled with other musicians or in a band. Just David is meh but still interesting, kinda like Bob Dylan.

Frantz' father was a partner in the Pittsburgh office of the law firm Buchanan Ingersoll. One of his son's gold records was hanging on his office wall.

Earlier is career, Harrison was in a band called The Modern Lovers. Robinson went on co-found The Cars. Richman has his own solo career. (He's also the musician who gets shot near the end of the film "There's Something About Mary.") Quite a bit of talent assembled there.

pretty solid album from david byrne/brian eno that hails from-everything that happens will happen today from 2008.
generally more accessible than their last fantastic collaboration-my life in the bush of ghosts-from 1981.

He also wrote Bicycle Diaries which was gifted to me and I found horrible.

Talking Heads music was deeply embedded in me as a child - especially Remain in Light which came out when I was 10. The poet James Tate introduced my dad to RiL on release and it was on regular rotation. He liked to play it loud in the summer with all the windows open to share with our neighbors including James.

Little Creatures was last album to get much play in our home too and I lost interest in THs after Naked and never kept up with DB after that.
