A bit of The Holy Grail and a bit of the man as he was, not acting.

He was a cruel man, but fair.

Another free-loading bastard kicked the bucket

I still watch Monty Python all the time, especially the Flying Circus shows. A couple of my favorites...

"He's definitely getting 'warmer'. We'll be back again in just a few years."

"...Hegel is arguing that the reality is merely an a priori adjunct of non-naturalistic ethics, Kant via the categorical imperative is holding that ontologically it exists only in the imagination, and Marx [with apt materialism] is claiming it was offside."

Dry British humor is great. I’m laughing my arse off while my redneck buddies are very confused. I try to explain but that just furthers the confusion.

When I was growing up in UK one of the things I liked about Monty Python was that it was "ours" - the Americans will never get it! I wasn't entirely right about that.

What surprises me more is that they got a chance to watch it, with a series like Fawlty Towers bought to change the actors to American and remove the entire role of Basil Fawlty. It does not match with my (stereotypical) idea of American televison that it was aired there at all.

I first watched The Holy Grail when I was about 14, my elder brother taped it from TV. After wiping my tears from laughter I went like okay, what kind of stuff is out there? Appearently there's world of different humour and old movies to discover. It turned out the airing of that movie was a prelude to a full rerun of the Flying Circus that was about to go on for years by the national 'anarchistic' broadcaster. Every sunday night there was one, and every monday it was the talk in school. It was very British of course, but the humour wasn't exclusively British or transcended Britishness, just like it was very 60's but not outdated. Or maybe it's more like only the most British comedy works elsewhere too.
