You know that's a quote from Ben Franklin, right?

Update: Urban legend apparently. He actually said it about wine

When I ate like a South Texan this is how it was done (not exactly in sequence as some steps require aging, growing and use last months/years product):

Grow hot peppers and tomatoes in garden.
Set up feeder in the 'back yard' visible from kitchen window. Let it settle in for a bit.
Open kitchen window and plug in feeder to turn it on. Shoot deer thru window.
Prep and hang it from the 'car port' beam to drain. Butcher it in the 'car port'
Bring industrial sized sausage maker and set up in middle of kitchen and invite the neighbors over
Spend the afternoon drinking beer and making sausage.
Spend another afternoon drinking beer making and canning salsa from the garden crop.
Pick up tortillas from the local tortillerķa. Warm them up directly on stove burner making sure to get rings of char.
Add sausage and salsa. Eat and repeat.

I really enjoy saving money and making food. I could really get into hunting for the free venison
