May photo challenge: In My Backyard

In keeping with the spirit of social distancing and sheltering-in, the May photo contest moves to the great, personal, outdoors. So, what’s yours like?

Remember, one vote per reviewer. Whoever's image has the most votes sets the next "assignment."

Some flowers that the hard freeze in April a couple weeks ago didn't kill. The crabapples didn't fare nearly as well unfortunately.

Part of a small flower garden in the back yard built around an old tree stump.

More purty flowers; Trilliums growing about 40 ft from my front door. (My backyard is PNW rain forest, so they are native here) Maybe it's just that I'm spending more time in the woods around my place (firewooding) but it seems there a ton of them out there this year. Also pictured, sword ferns and some alder branches from a tree I just cut down.

Saturday's snow on our lilac's blossoms. I wished it hadn't been so windy; the focus might have been better.

Oleanders very poisoning but very pretty. Beautiful but deadly. Most animals instinctively know not to eat them so the threat is zero.

Cruising thru Central California I forget the state highway number but it parallel I5 the highway median had this plant for miles and miles.

My backyard. Since the surrounding acreage is kind of a challenge to build on, we're thinking about trying to get it cheap, maybe build a trail around it.

I bet they appreciate the reasonable rates at your place.

I've got swallows nesting in a crevice that used to be my laundry room dryer vent, until I moved my laundry room. It's kind of mesmerizing, watching them zoom loop-de-loops all over my back yard's airspace, eating all the tiny flying bugs.

These are Violet Greens and males are beautifully iridescent. I’m amazed how easily they go through that small hole.

I really like my birdhouse pic but today I saw this little guy working my blueberry patch by our house and this is really spring. Our native bumblebees will work ~55 degrees and above (59 today) whereas the bees we used to hire (by the hive) for our cranberry farm wouldn’t go out unless it was above 60.

A few of these flowers pop up in my lawn each year. I didn't plant them and I have no idea what they are, but I work around them with my push mower for the few days that they're in bloom.
Edit: just found it on Wikipedia: Ornithogalum, which some consider a weed.

In our backyard ...

Or at least, they were!

They're here now ...

The first photo, in our backyard, is the one I'm going with.
