Ronald McDonald has killed more people than smallpox. There's nothing there I'd be in line for.

I think I'm gonna wear this quote out the way things are going with Covid-19

“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”

That's insane. FWIW: There's a Starbucks near me that has a drive-thru window. This past Saturday (5/23) there were 40 cars in line waiting for a cup of coffee (I was at the neighboring grocery store and was so intrigued I had to stop and count them). I wonder how many of those patrons didn't realize they could order on-line from their car and pick -up just inside the front door?

The golden arches, which is the logo of McDonalds, the world’s largest fast food giant with outlets in 120-odd countries. McDonald’s had been expanding its business in new countries almost every day. The Mac invasion was a sign that countries had opened up and & were integrating with the global economy In fact, there is a Big Mac index to measure the purchasing power parity between countries. Created in 1986, the index uses the price of a burger as the benchmark. As a metaphor, Friedman states in the book “No two countries that both had McDonald’s outlets had fought a war against each other”. Friedman contends that if the middle class in a country is strong enough to support McDonald’s outlets, it would become a McDonald’s country and may not be interested in fighting wars.

The real impact is American overzealous marketing of marginal corporate products... and displacing what might be fine local cuisine.

The "Walmarting" of the world, essentially.

Perhaps the only positive outcome is the availability of clean restrooms, almost "everywhere."

I had Taco Bell and Whataburger on the same day And I liked it ! Got Taco Bell because I didn’t feel like cooking and just wanted simple crunchy tacos then the neighbor brought over a Whataburger so I scarfed that down. Fast Food is Slow Death but yesterday I didn’t care.

I can't help but wonder if the newbie here is pointing us to "Allison" for some nefarious reason.

So meh! I've been to McD maybe 3 times in the last 5-7 years? Twice to get a shake to kill time between kids volleyball matches, and once to get fries on a long road trip.

Now Taco Smell, maybe more like once a month. But that's been open for business all through the lockdown (drive thru only of course)
