Deaf jammed

i find it most distracting that every public pronouncement on TV is accompanied by SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) ... does this mean that deaf people can't read close captioning ... does it mean that the ASL has created a VIRTUE SIGNALING monster that every public speaker must kowtow to ... does it mean ASL has a great lobbying network ... and correct me if im too far afield but the persons delivering this animated info are a visually strange lot that appear to be refugees from various self help encounter sessions > see the Minn guvnrs speech or the Ca guvnrs speech ... its absurd how far public ameriKa goes to cater to a tiny tiny minority while at the same time ignoring many many communal health & safety issues > for instance paying teachers to make sure a HS degree means a person can read & write as contrasted to paying ASL people to do what close captioning can do better.

It means that the quality and accuracy of real-time closed captioning lags surprisingly far behind that of many other technologies, and so if you can read ASL it's a much more reliable way to communicate when you're hearing impaired.

an ASL interpreter's facial expressions, sign choice and demeanor can add needed context to an important message, more so than CC.

The ASL person for the Mayor said that 200,000 people count on him to sign the daily briefing. If you don't like it, train yourself not to look at him or her! They are usually dressed plainly so you can tune them out.
