Male Black Chinned Hummingbird.

the texture is in the feathers.

I was maybe 15 feet away when I took this... he let me open the front door and storm door and capture him digitally.

Excellent interpretations of the theme, now it's time to vote. Pick your favourite 2 photos and the votes will be tallied on Aug 8th. I enjoy reading comments on your picks so go ahead and say why you like the photo(s) you choose.

Wow! It was a real challenge to pick just 2 out of all the great entries this month! But my votes go to horatio and clemsongirl because both their photos not only had great composition and subject matter, but also a sort of mood that set them apart from the others.

Very tough choice, I wish I could pick several more. Dagray because it's a great and difficult shot, and because those feathers are intricately detailed, and TheCharm because the repeating diagonal lines and changing perspective are great. A lot of great photos from July!
