Actually, they do.

I once had a job interview where the VP of a company flat out said "You don't look old enough to have done all this."

I have a baby face... runs in the family... people could not believe my mother had her five children... she didn't look "old enough."

I will admit I hear that "complement" less and less these days.

Used to get the Stars and Stripes while living in Germany in the 80's. Calvin & Hobbes, Doonesbury, and The Far Side were all on the same page of the comics. Made reading everything that was worth reading in the S&S a quick easy read and worth the nickel or quarter or whatever it cost.

The holy trinity of comic strips from that newspaper era were Calvin and Hobbes, Bloom County and The Far Side.

I don't recall having to pay for Stars and Stripes... Seems like it was just in an open rack on various docks on the base.

It cost something, I remember GIs writing a check for its exact purchase price at the snack bar and not even anything over the newspaper cost in order to get some extra cash.

I might have paid for it... so long ago... But then that was the '70s for me... Maybe it was free where I was stationed. I just remember it was around... Maybe it was Navy Times that was free.
