January Photo Challenge: Your town or neighbourhood

I want to make it as easy as possible for folks to take their photo for this challenge during the month of January, though that isn't an absolute requirement. The subject is your town or neighbourhood - perhaps something about it that you like or that makes it distinctive, how it's weathering current times, however you want to interpret the theme..
I plan to take my photo entry this month, though I have already taken quite a few on my COVID walks.
Please enter one image on or before the January 31 deadline (you can change it before the deadline if you like). If you want to, you can explain why you took the shot. Voting will take place during the early part of February. The winner of the challenge is expected to choose a theme for the February challenge and to tally the voting results for that month.
Good luck everyone, and I look forward to seeing your entries - and your neighbourhoods!

I also think those who post in the monthly thread should be willing to take the responsibility of starting and ending the next month’s thread if they get the most votes…or not post. There is a photography thread for those who just want to share their photos....……or since you’ve picked two good subjects in a row maybe you should just do it every month

personally i consider a collage as one image in itself....with, to me, the advantage of giving more information....now, if you don't agree just don't vote for my image

Winkin is mayor of our town nothing moves in and nothing moves out without Winkin approval. That is the way it is and the way it will always be as long as Winkin is in power. And I am OK with that

Thanks Clemsongirl - but I would be suffering theme burnout before very long!

Edit: so here's my entry, taken a few days ago from the Leslie Street Spit - still being built from construction spoil and rubble and now about 5 kilometres long, it has naturalized itself and become a popular place to visit. With COVID it's even more important as a place where you can view the City from a distance and get some safe exercise. Not to mention the birding - a lot of my duck shots were taken here. This is a view to the west, back towards a marina and the City.

I will pop this one in here for now ... this is about 2 km from where we live. I am very thankful that we live in an area that is beautiful and quiet.

I've been testing out my new monochrom camera and this is about the only shot I have that was taken this month around my neighborhood (about a mile down the road from our house).

Hi everyone - it's the 27th so just a few days left before we end this challenge and put the entries out for a vote. Hoping for a few more images on or before the 31st.

Hi everyone - last day to get your pics into the challenge. Deal4Fuji might want to let us know which of those pics is his entry and Seattle Forrest might want to do the same - though Clemsongirl has chosen to do a collage which complicates things a bit.
Let's hope for a couple more last minute entries today - I'll start the count Monday am.

Not that it matters as I rarely win, but the last time I chose the theme we had more participation than any month since - all my pics are either scans of 80's photos from a K-1000 or recent from an old Apple i7....... minimalist photographer too Vote D4F, Vote D4F !! If I don't win the election was rigged !!

DQRider look what you've done ! All civility is gone and it's anarchy in the monthly photo contest I vote me

I kid, I kid....lets go with the 1st photo.

The K-1000! My first reflex, simple, built like a tank... I still have it somewhere.

They’re great simple all manual cameras aren’t they? Tough as nails, although my hot shoe stopped working after it fell off the railing around one of Elvis’s Cadillac’s at Graceland. It still worked using a sync cord, so there was a way around the dead hot shoe where I could still use a flash. I still have mine packed away enjoying retirement.

Voting starts today. I really like Clemsongirl's entry but I'm not sure the collage format meets the "one photo" rule - I probably should have mentioned that earlier than a couple of days ago, but of course everyone is free to vote any way they wish.. Deal4Fuji's official entry is his first shot.
I hope DQRider joins in.

Here are my votes:
Jseis
Majmt
Deal4Fiji

Apologies to everybody else, I thought every entry should win this month. I don't think I'm allowed to change my vote but I'm much more indecisive than usual with this contest.

Hondo cheated. I voted for him not because of the quality of his composition and lighting but because I love cats and know he takes strays in. He's pressuring me with the emotional angle.

Clemsengirl - Actual cool city pictures and four coherently themed little ones should equal one big one.
Machka - Looks like summer and I'd like to be there.
Seattle Forrest - Really liking your dark sky shots..

Honorable Mention for Deal4Fuji for a very admirable and almost convincing effort at naked and yet blatantly shameless self-promotion (for future reference, my vote can be bought.)

I was going to vote for Hondo Gravel just for the cat content but then..........are those dirty socks on the dresser?
