No beer for 31 days

Iím bored canít plan anything until this pandemic is over. I need a challenge so I am going to quit beer for the whole month of March. I will have to resist the beer cave and go to the fountain drinks instead. I like cold Diet Pepsi so that is a replacement. No particular reason for cutting out beer for a month other than I want to see if I can do it. Will save $ and I wonít miss the morning headaches. Beer calories go right to your gut so Iím not going to miss those empty calories. Day 1 out of 31.

I did just the opposite a few years ago to shed some holiday weight gain. A beer-only diet (with vitamin supplements) for five days resulted in a stupid quick loss of 3-5 pounds.

Learn how to brew.

Takes a day to boil/mix the ingredients, then about 10 to 14 days for first fermentation... Then you bottle it and wait about another 2 weeks for further fermentation and carbonation... then drink. Just about fits your schedule.

First batch is rarely perfect (like the first pancake), but after brewing a few, you get to the point of being able to make your favorite beer, with really fresh ingredients. Tweak it a bit and make it as strong as you want (well, within reason... those yeasts have limits).

Anyway... if your bored... and like beer... there ya go.

If you're bored, read a book or watch something on youtube. If you want to fight the beer gut, switch to hard liquor or maybe wine (as a compromise), and lay off fast food, donuts. And increase your weekly miles to some ridiculous number, maybe 200+?

Nobody likes a quitter, Hondo. Now quit bothering me; it's wine time.

Be careful with the hippie lettuce over there in Texas.
A shout out to my buddy, Kraig in Texas, that does grow the best hippie lettuce, tho!

How about drinking better beer when you go back to drinking beer? That, and more water should help your headaches.
Diet soda is one of the worst things you can drink. Why not drink water or unsweetened tea? They're a lot better for you.

Grain alcohol has fewer calories than beer. Taste great, less filling.

I drink club soda, sometimes with a splash of cranberry or grapefruit juice.

Quitting booze was one of the best things I ever did for myself. Sorry I didn't do it sooner. Drinking never caused me much of a problem, didn't have a problem working, didn't crash cars, didn't ruin relationships, rarely, and I mean rarely, caused me to feel hungover, I had to get really hammered to hurt for long in the morning. That lack of "problems" is probably why I drank as much as I did for as long as I did. I quit sort of like Hondo Gravel is talking about, let's take a break, lose some weight, see if I can do it. Found out I could do things at night I wouldn't do drinking - go to far flung restaurants or music venues for example. My relationship with my wife really improved, partly because I could bite my tongue a little easier and partly because I could take her out on dates again to far-flung restaurants and music venues.

You should drink uisce beatha (water of life) aka whisky or whiskey. It is always a good bet.

I am not really a beer drinker, I do cook with it but don't like the taste of beer on its own. I want to as there are some great beers out there that I want to like but every beer from good to bad just doesn't work on my palette.

Lately I’m not tolerating beer that well. Heart palpitations get really bad and my treated blood pressure spikes. Those are concerning.. I notice when I’m not drinking my blood pressure is good and my heart beats normally. The doctor advised me to monitor my BP a few times a day because if it didn’t improve I would come back in for med adjustment. Good results if I’m not partying and when I do my BP goes up considerably.

Come to Portland. We've got gummies, brownies, chocolates, hard candies, hot sauce, cookies, vape, tincture (wtf?), and of course pre rolls.
Heck there are two dispensaries closer than the nearest Starbucks. Meanwhile I have to walk nearly a mile to get a growler fill.
