Anyone shopping at Amazon Fresh store?

I realize that all these questions could be answered by me just going over to the store and trying it out... but before that I've got a few questions.

Is it required to have the Amazon app on your phone? I know it says they take credit cards, but is that still contingent with having the app on your phone? Can I just walk in, grab a sandwich and walk out as long as I have my CC with me? Do they take cash at all? I'm also intrigued about being able to have them pull my order and have it ready when I get there. But, I like to pick out my own fruits and vegetable's. Can I have a "partial" order pulled and then do my final shopping of fruits, meats etc while I'm there?

There's one being built near me in an abandoned 'Big Lots' department storefront, about 30,000 sq ft, so its pretty large compared to their other stores. You have to register on Amazon with a credit card (a prime account will do) and they bill that. Its all electronic, only a very few employees to keep the place tidy and put together internet orders for later pick-up. . You use a cart with sensors on it that sums up what you put in/deletes what you take out, then totals it at exiting and bills your account. And Lots of cameras all over the place if that matters to you; most supermarkets these days have lots of cameras for security reasons so no real change for me. I might try it when it opens in late 2021 (expected opening).

I've never been to one, but it's my understanding the app on your phone tells them which account to bill. Also if you buy a sandwich the terms and conditions grant Amazon your soul, which you can buy back on Prime.

I have Amazon Prime and Amazon Music. I saw an Amazon Prime delivery truck while out riding my bike in the boonies. Crazy...

No Amazon Fresh store here yet, and I haven't tried their delivery service yet either. I was tempted during the peak of the pandemic mess, but I usually shop late at night so there are very few other people in the stores anyway.

Amazon apps work pretty well, although occasionally they make annoying changes that make price comparison difficult.

We tried their delivery service. Just like with the retail business, their use of packaging was extravagantly wasteful. Like one whole shopping bag and some cardboard insulation / padding for a bell pepper. That made us feel guilty and we stopped. We usually get Ecart from the grocery store. Raleyís, a local chain. We started because of Covid, but Iíve continued it just because itís easier to keep the shopping list = online cart, and not to blow half an hour wandering around the grocery store.

Amazon had ruined the shopping experience at my local Whole Foods. Less variety, and you take your life into your hands with their shoppers speeding around with carts, faces in phones, trying to fill delivery orders. One of them hit the basket in my hand on Friday. Not fun when youíre rehabbing from thumb surgery.

Fortunately, I have easy access to this place. I can walk there from the office during lunch. Was just there yesterday. And a new Giant just opened near my office and not super far from my house for when I need big-staples.

With almost any major supermarket near me I can place an order online and pick it up out in their parking lot. I don't mind it for anything except fresh fruit, vegetables and meats. The Amazon store (from the pics I have seen) it doesn't seem to have a very wide selection of products. Just like Costco with their Kirkland brand, I'm sure Amazon will be selling only "Amazon" branded goods within 5 years.

I will always try to shop locally and avoid buying from Amazon owned businesses and other large companies as a way to support locally owned small businesses. Especially now with the pandemic small businesses need our support.

Don't have one in my area, but when we get one I probably won't use it. If they don't have Spam it's not a real grocery store.
