June Photo Challenge - Mysterious Thing in the Sky

Looks like I’ve been called to duty for this month’s photo challenge. I had a topic in mind but a more urgent matter has arisen and help is needed.

Lately, I’ve noticed a strange light moving around in the sky all day and emitting increasing levels thermal radiation. Then......it disappears. What the heck is going on? Who or what is behind this? Could it be from outer space?? The authorities must be hiding something!!

As concerned citizens, we should task ourselves with gathering photograhic documentation. Maybe we could shine some light on this suspicious phenomenon but we only have one month to do it. Please submit the best photograph that you’re able to capture of this object or its weird effects before July. Be careful, I’ve heard that some people can be allergic to it. Whatever you do, don’t stare at it.

Good luck!

Here are a few shots I was able to capture so far.

Here it is in Hawaii, spying on our observatories

Up at the ranch. Nothing there, what could they want?

Watch out, I saw it shape shift and briefly disappear a few years ago in Wyoming

I was able to record this researcher documenting the daily disappearance of said object without attracting his attention.

i'm going with weird effects!
That’s just a yellow star that will run out of hydrogen and begin expanding as it burns its helium instead, slowly turning redder and redder and getting hotter and hotter, then finally burning Earth to a crisp!!!……I have a camera that captures the future and I asked it to take this to show what just the very beginning of the end will look like….…

my entry

eta....btw, on a wall of street art today i may have found the leader of all this info on what's happening with all these weird effects...not an entry since the one above may be more accurate

eta2....i found ^his^ office today too

eta 3 and maybe my last,…..a very strange feeling came over me when i saw this cloud today and it reminded me of when i was on the Nostromo and i learned ( at least i think i did) that clouds are how an alien craft is sometimes disguised…..i’m sure it is one and wondering if they’re here to tell us that yellow thing is going to turn red soon.

ok…my LAST eta...I think my Ellen Ripley personality misled me about this whole immediate end of our existence thing…now i’d simply say that watching that yellow thing finally descend into the horizon is just a moment of peace and reflection thing

That's reassuring. In the meantime, could your camera give me some stock market tips?

OK, this is not my shot... I want to give credit to Skunk Bay Weather for this picture of a phenomena known as "light pillars."

I think I spotted it! I ran in the house, grabbed my camera, and managed to get a quick shot as it faded away. Weird as hell let me tell ya...

So, what’s going on there? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. Something on the objective? Or, is it an amazing shot of Jupiter?

well...maybe it's also in crisp winter weather after a storm comes into the pacific coast it leaves more intense red/orange sunsets....with the sun's winter angle allowing for longer sunsets too!

btw....i had fun this month!!!!

Well, since clemsongirl rained on my apocalypse and gios posted that shot with those “chemtrails”, I thought I’d just put on my tin-foil helmet and take refuge in my bunker. Normally, I just spend the time down here working on my manifesto but it has given me the opportunity to data mine and deep-research my photo archives. Since there’s no chance of me going outside again for a while to try and capture a shot of that elusive “yellow thing” for this month’s entry, I thought I’d just share a photo I took of it while doing some field work in the Russian Arctic about 25 years ago.

We’d either get to the drill rig by helicopter (old Russian ones) or travel overland in snow transports called veestahuds (phonetic spelling) taking about an hour and a half through empty tundra. As with most Russian equipment, it broke down a lot but also had the virtue of being repairable with some basic tools, ingenuity, and lots of arguments. The first shot is of a typical morning breakdown that gave me some time to wander around alone. By the time I found the tracks again, I was able to view one of the best halos I ever saw. I couldn’t quite capture it in the second photo due to extreme cold and numb fingers but it does show a good portion of the halo, sun dogs, and the light pillar mentioned earlier. Many of the finer effects escaped the exposure but after getting the slides back, I noticed something. At first, I thought the blue star effects were due to static or temperature effects on the film emulsion but I’m thinking now that I may just have captured something that I wasn’t supposed to see - smaller attendants to the mothership perhaps.

Thanks Ben, but we've changed the monthly contest to determining the winner by the luck of the draw (1st powerball number drawn in the following month) thinking this will encourage more participation. You should join in, there's still time left for something solar in June or something R titled for July

Yes, not too late to get those photos in but time is running short. That light in the sky must’ve gathered what were up to and has escalated it’s bombardment of thermal radiation here in the west. The photo I posted from Russia was taken at a temperature that was almost 150 degrees lower than what I saw two weeks ago in Miles City, MT.

Well,l since I don't play the lotto and don't understand how it works, I guess I am out of these threads...are we now posting multiple pics on this thread?
One for posterity....Rule of 3rd's, 2 suns, 2 dogs, and 1 person.

Somewhere in the North Atlantic on the way to Bermuda in some race. Wrong sky object, I know, but it’s mysterious.

Eclipse: No idea what's going on optically here.

Nice photo ! I don't play the lotto either so no need to leave us, we're just using the Powerball number as a no-stress (no upset feelings) way to find a winner who will choose the following months contest theme, and we're all gonna get participation trophies too
