Dang rent a car rates!!!!

Flying from San Antonio to BWI then a 100 mile drive to Hersey Pa not big deal. But the car rental rates FRIKIN buzz kill. Paid anyways have no choice I can’t walk and will need a car to move about. Don’t need 6 days of driving to tire me out. I want to be fresh for all the roller coasters then the GnR concert. 3 hour and 20 minute flight vs 3 days on the road I think I will fly this time lol. The flight fare is reasonable but the rent a car and just a Ford Focus or equivalent … That was my fishing and beer money !!!

Maybe turo. Just download the app. Kinda like Airbnb but for cars
Never used it, just heard about it on a local facebook group.

Flights to Philly were a lot more expensive than BWI for whatever reason. Anyhow have a direct flight so that is good. I will float down Swatara creek on a tube to beat the heat. Last time I was in Pa was summer 2018 cruised the GAP. I lived in Pittsburg as a young kid 1970-1974 I think lol. Beautiful country side Pa has I could have easily lived there. Football crazy as bad as Texas.

I remember Pittsburgh with Tony Dorsett then Dan Marino. Landing in BWI at 9:40 pm so I booked a room by BWI. Take off the next morning to Hershey all Interstate then get all buzzed out on chocolate I better find my sweet tooth. GnR concert in the same complex as you all already know. Fly back to San Antonio on an evening flight giving some time on the last day to see some sights and make the 100 mile drive to BWI. Looking forward to a concert at Hershey Park always have read about how many bands have played there. Attending a concert away from San Antonio or Austin will be cool. I saw Metallica in Honolulu back in 1989. I was a poor college student but had military family there so I crashed there so I could go on fumes.

90 bucks for a Ford Focus or equivalent back in 2005 I rented a Chevy Cobalt for about 17 dollars days out of Seattle. I just need basic transportation not a luxury vehicle or 4x4 truck. They say because the shortage of cars or whatever? This is out of Baltimore it might be cheaper or more expensive elsewhere but I understand rent a cars are expensive everywhere right now. Need a car though and they know it lol.

It has been a while. Last time I rented a car, it was about $20 a day.

Look for an online brokerage company, and it may cut your rates in half, especially if you are booking a few weeks in advance.

There is always the option of simply riding your bike that 100 miles from the airport!!!

I switched jobs a few months before the pandemic. At my previous job I had to travel a fair amount and so I had to rent cars. Even before the pandemic the going rental rates for a modest car like a Corolla were $75+ and in some areas were even higher. So $90 doesn't really surprise me at all. One way that I've saved some money in the past is by renting from a location that is offsite from the airport. I will take a city bus or other public transportation to an offsite rental location and then pick up the rental car. The taxes and fees at some airports can account for up to 30% of the total rental cost so if you can rent offsite, you can save some money. This isn't always the case but is common, especially in larger metro areas. I have an upcoming rental and the base rental rate is $380 for a week but there are an additional $160 in fees.

Thatís painful !!! Close to what we got hosed out of for the rent a car to get to Hershey from BWI Pain come in doses I get back from a road trip exhausted the next day I run into town for softener salt and have a blowout so into San Antonio to Discount tire for a replacement no big deal I had road hazard. Went into San Antonio today to get some new glasses and my windshield gets cracked by a rock from somewhere? 400 dollars out the window so Friday back into San Antonio for windshield replacement. Got fed up with BS from Eye Mart Express they told me come back in two hours so I got on the list came back early said I wasnít there put me at end of list so F them! Cruised to the local mall and got great service from Lens Crafters. More $ gone but I need to see lol. Dang there is a reason I like cold cheap beer in a cooler sitting on the tailgate of my truck listening to tunes catching a buzz out in the countryside where Iím a fortunate to live at. Trying to make the dollar stretch without being a cheapskate has been difficult as of late. Iím going to catch a buzz this evening and it will be therapeutic all because of rent a cars ripping me off because they know they have me over a barrel oh I forgot there is a car shortage oh BS.

Before Rona I was renting cars at 30-40 day.
Commodities should be cheap. There is no market differentiation in rental cars.

We decided F it lol if we fly a Max so what. First world airline with the pilot updated training in other words turn it off if it acts wrong. If we crash we will die and be disintegrated that will save money on cremation services and nobody will care anyways going to Hershey Park and a GnR concert and it will be a blast. Will see if anyone will pick up on an accent not from Pennsylvania lol. In past travels people thought Canada or Arizona and I say S Texas the smart ones know Texas is regional and spans many cultural and climate zones.

I had an old man Latino co-worker maybe 14 years ago. Some lady told him ďGo back where you came from!Ē
Funny thing is even though he was ESL he and his family were native Tejanos before Texas was Texas.

Because... Tejas.
