And that was the end of that item (always put an address *inside* the box as well-- it turns out that "dead letters" are almost immediately thrown out, according to what one postal person told me).
Context matters. In your case you were dealing with an honorable seller, who communicated with you throughout the process. In my case there was no communication whatsoever, and PayPal conducted all contacts with the seller. Also, this was just one of several factors that led me to believe this was a scam. There was the phony website where I made the purchase that vanished into thin air several weeks after I made the purchase. There was the seller's Chinese name that translated to English as "Guangzhou Baiyun District Xiaohang Hospital Co., Ltd." So, a hospital supplier is in the business of selling phonograph styluses ? Once I made the purchase and received the PayPal receipt that showed the item description as "see store receipt", which did not exist, I knew I'd been scammed.

Right, I didn't say that didn't mean yours wasn't a scam-- you had other criteria to go by. But I was saying I wouldn't use it as the sole indicator of a scam (though I admit I wondered, except the seller refunded me very readily and promptly and was a reputable member and experienced seller on that particular forum). Unfortunately USPS can suck very much at times, especially lately.

You can in the internet age still find someone in Idaho that doesn't know what a running 1956 Desoto Firedome sedan is worth . . . Or more specifically it's 330 cu in Hemi (Different than the 331 Chrysler hemi but, unlike the 1st generation Dodge "Red Ram" Hemi, beefy enough in the mains to handle Nitro Methane when the caps are replaced with 4140 billet steel caps).
.
But you won't find that car still available for $1000-thirty minutes after it's listing hits the streets.. . . damnit.

So, even as my scam website has vanished, new ones reappear. The latest one is this one (safe to click on it) >>> https://www.baebrry.com/product/orto...t-stylus-blue/

Note all the completely unrelated items shown at the bottom the page, all selling for $39 !

Next we go to the contact us page and see "Adress: 9020 W Chicago Rd , Allen , Michigan , 49227 , United States", Note misspelled word address.

So I used google maps to find this address in rural Michigan, and here is the international headquarters of this business >>> https://www.google.com/maps/place/90...!4d-84.7878287

What do you think the odds are that you will ever receive the item you ordered on this website ?

Scam website has again changed its name >>> https://www.mesoclo.com/product/repl...tylus-2m-blue/

Same content, same typos, same fake home address.

Did you know that a phonograph stylus falls under the category of Education & Office ?

I guess the scamsters can do this indefinitely, staying just one step ahead of the law.

I love browsing the ******/r/scams section to keep up on the latest scam trends.

My favorite was reading about "recovery scams" where people say they can help get your scammed money back, but also end up scamming them again. How pleasant.
