Yuengling was one of those relatively unknown old PA brands when I was a kid. When we were in our teens there was a local store that didn't check ID and always had a $2/case special on the PA beers. It would rotate between Yuengling, Iron City, Rolling Rock and a couple of others. We consumed quite a bit of that swill for a few years. It's funny now to see such beers being considered hip. They were thought of as bottom of the barrel back then.

Its good to see another beer on the local market. Growing up in San Antonio we really only had three beers and all were locally brewed.
Lone Star - When out and about, at a meal, in a bar
Falstaff - When ya needed to quench your thirst, a working mans beer when working
Pearl - When ya wanted something light, or you were constipated... Ha
When my Boy's are home it is always interesting to see what beers they are sipping. Sweet, bitter, citric, herbal, foreign in more ways than one. And then when they run out, sipping on one of my Miller Highlife's with a smile...
All Hail Beer...

In high school (mid-to-late 1970s for me) it was Genesee Cream Ale. I forget how little we paid for a six-pack, but it was much less than the $2.10 for a six-pack of Miller High Life that I graduated to (pun intended) when I was a freshman in college. Maybe $1.60 for the Genesee?

Reminds me of another PA (now defunct) beer. I collected beer cans as a wee lad and had a few of these, despite being in WI.
Schmidt's beer had a collection of cans that depicted a variety of outdoor activities.

I feel like this particular "beer" was a good portion of what made me dislike beer, in general. It was so awful and yet available underage.
There was a place up in Forest Park, about a 30 min drive from where I lived. When we could catch a ride there they sold "back door beer" that were various types of mostly keg beers that were reported as skunky, or just too old to sell. A gallon of whatever they had on hand was $4. Often it was Pabst, Keystone, and other such terrible beers from the start and only worse with age and a bit of skunking. Just the same, $4 for you and a couple of friends to chip in, add gas money, and have something to drink....These same times were often celebrated with Boone's Farm, Mad Dog, Thunderbird and other type 'ripple'.
