KISS cancels Boise Idaho?

I canít find any information on why KISS canceled their Boise show. The concert was nearly sold out and by showtime it would have been. KISS fan or not does anybody know why Boise was passed over? Iím just curious if something is going on in Boise that isnít good. A dispute with the promoter? Or the facility management? City council? Religious nutcases? No official reason has been stated. Does anybody know? Speculation?

I would think low ticket sales but that wasn’t the case. Maybe the venue being indoors since majority of the concerts are in outdoor amphitheaters. Might have something to do with potatoes. Some are saying the farmers threatened to destroy their potato crops if Boise let Knights In Satan’s Service to perform. Love Gun may cause the birth rate to rise.

Wait, today was supposed to be the makeup date for the Sept 9 show that was cancelled because Gene and Paul caught the Covid.

Are you saying tonight's show has been cancelled?

Gene Simmons sings well. Paul Stanley struggles at times but with modern technology it smooths it out. Some will say cheating I donít care this will be the last time I will see KISS

With Idahoís low rate of vaccination and now serious health care rationing statewide itís not too hard to see the consequences of an indoor concert arena being a covid spreader, especially with so many freedom loving no vaccine or masks people. That would also just make it even more difficult for those who are responsibly vaccinated, who have a serious health problem and who now canít get into a stateís hospital. Even not going if it did happen certainly makes more sense to me than having so many unvaccinated!....but then Kiss isn't a band i'd want to listen to.

Not enough tickets where sold to make it worthwhile for the band. According to the radio they would have only netted around 100k and that's not enough for them to bother to play a show. So it was cancelled. Probably the new covid restrictions (proof of vaccination required at all large events in Boise right now) depressing ticket sales. Only about four thousand tickets were sold. Should have held it in Meridian.

Yup, Austin looks good next Wednesday, Just booked a room was just there last week for Korn. A nominal Korn fan until I saw them live with 20,000 crazy fans. Now I made a Korn setlist to jam out with. I’m not that critical if it is hard and heavy music I love it. KISS is over saturated in some markets. One last go around with KISS I will be good. Judas Priest in San Antonio in Oct will be great then back to Austin for Slipknot will be wild. Better than staying at home. But I believe you they didn’t sell enough tickets but the PR crew tried to sugarcoat it as usual.

Idaho has the worst COVID rates in the nation. Not the most people in sheer numbers -- at the moment Florida and Michigan are fighting for that honor.

I follow the FB page for a retired epidemiologist and a couple of active epidemiologists. The retired doc lives in Idaho. He understands the mentality and attitude of self sufficiency that keeps and draws people to the state. But even he is baffled by the cult-like denialism and refusal to take even the tiniest precautions.

The guys in KISS are senior citizens now. I don't know anything about their health, whether they're fully vaxxed and, frankly, don't care. Never liked their music or schtick. But even fully vaxxed people are subject to breakthrough infections. Usually non-fatal, but why take a risk? Especially with hospitals completely overwhelmed in many states. If KISS canceled due to pandemic concerns, hats off to 'em for being sensible.

A friend who's only in his 40s and generally strong and healthy just got out of the ICU for the second time in a month. He was vaccine-hesitant, not outright opposed on political/cultural grounds. His social media posts from his hospital bed were the stuff of nightmares -- listening to other patients around him literally gasping their final breaths, others crying as they realize they could be next. He saw for himself firsthand how serious this is. And some of his recent FB posts have been low-key-warnings to anti-vax friends, links to credible news articles about how bad it really is.

But I'm still not sure he's gotten vaccinated. I'm afraid that as he recovers, assuming he doesn't suffer long-haul COVID symptoms that drag him down for weeks or months -- he may decide he's built up enough natural antibodies and doesn't need the vaccine. I hope he doesn't do that. We can be vaccinated and still benefit from natural immunity by getting exposed and either showing no symptoms, or very mild symptoms.

I'm pretty sure I've been exposed, before or after getting vaxxed this spring, but I'd need the PCR test to be sure. I have most of the symptoms, other than deep chest respiratory distress. Since February I've had recurring bouts with all the usual COVID symptoms, lasting a day or two, then I'll feel okay again and resume my usual exercise routine. But my fitness data shows a steep decline. I'm slower, my body doesn't seem to respond like it used to -- like, something between the brain and legs isn't communicating and I can't force my body to go. And more tired all the time and sleep more, usually 10-12 hours a day -- very unusual for me. Exercise used to invigorate me, better than coffee. After a run or bike ride I'd be more energetic and get more done. Not now. Now I need a nap or just sit on the sofa like a lump in a daze for a couple of hours.

If I wasn't already retired that would be disastrous. I can't imagine trying to hold down a full time job feeling this way.

Even though Texas isn't quite as bad as Idaho (not for lack of trying by state government reps), I can tell the medical system is overwhelmed, from listening to cycling friends who are doctors, nurses, med techs, EMTs, etc. My primary care doc won't return my messages. I can't get referrals to specialists. Last year I could within a couple of days, such as when I needed to see an ophthalmologist for what I thought was a detached retina (turned out to be a posterior vitreous detachment, not quite as bad). This year, nothing. They're supposed to respond within 30 days at the most. I asked months ago for a rough estimate of a timeline for referrals to my immunologist, rheumatologist, ENT and ortho docs. Nada. No response. No idea when an appointment might be available. The only in-person exam I've had this year was for cancer screening. Everything else has been done by telephone, or postponed indefinitely.

In this health climate, it would be foolish for musicians approaching age 70 or older to risk their own health on travel and public appearances. Not to mention contributing to encouraging gatherings that put others at risk.

That's a shame because I know it's hard for musicians to earn a living without public appearances. Some have done solo shows online, or with one or two close family or friends, but I doubt any ad revenue from streaming services comes close to paying the bills.

Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley both just got over covid. They moved the postponed dates to the end of the tour. Korn s lead singer just got over covid and the lead guitarist just rejoin when they played Austin. Taking a risk as musicians and the fans are taking a risk. Even being fully vaccinated I know I am chancing it as well.. crazy times we are living in.
