Cats are ok, I've never had a serious problem with one.

One of the few things I am actually afraid of is gators. We had some friends in Florida that had a ditch on their property, damn thing sounded like a thousand pound frog at nite.

I have had quite a few cats as pets and really enjoyed it up to the point that I didn't any more. I like them, but have no plans to have another. Thinking that once our current pet passes, which hopefully will be years from now, that we are going to go pet-less for a while so we can travel and do things without needing a sitter or a place the dog can come with.

Good movie featuring cats as a principal subject of the artist Louie Wain, a very interesting gentleman.

Kedi was a very good movie if you like films on the subject. About the street cats of Istanbul.

We just last night, at 12:30, discovered we have 3 kittens living under our shed (rear flood lights cycling on/off, on/off). Now I get to feed them in preparation for trapping, then cleaning up and domesticating and finding homes. I've done this 5 times with 21 others, before we were able to trap that little momma. I don't even see the mother of these guys, only the 3 little puffballs and they look to be maybe 8 weeks old at this point. **** !

This photo popped up as a Facebook memory yesterday. It’s Monkey the Maine Coon taken during a ver visit 9 years ago at a place near me that only sees cats. He was 35 lbs. According to the vet who posted it, he was not overweight. Now THAT is a cat.

Wow, that cat could do some serious damage. My kitten will alternate between licking fingers and nibbling on fingers. That one might just take the fingers clean off.

Hopefully it has a place to hunt rats... or possums.

There's certainly that potential but fortunately Maine Coons are gentle giants. They are quite intelligent and generally people cats--follow you around, like to be in the same room, etc. We've had one for over 13 years (only half the size of Monkey) but unfortunately Thor is dealing with some health issues so we don't know how much longer he'll be around.

Yup, I have a cat that is almost 14 years. Some days he looks like he is about to check out then he perks up.

Bear wrote a song this morning. It's called Can't Catch Birds Blues. Very sad and heartfelt.

I've been trying to get a recording of Latte telling Nemesis to go away, this is HER HOUSE. And, Caffè and Iddybiddy are also learning the tune.

Bird season is ending soon.

However, they all will occasionally bring in a mouse, shrew, gopher, or mole. I've been trying to convince Iddybiddy that she can't bring her mouse into the house.

3 days of feeding, last night nobody comes out from under my shed to eat, the food isn't touched as of this morning. I leave another plate out this morning, doesn't get touched. So I'm then down on my knees peering under the shed with a flashlight, kittens are gone. I had never seen the mother cat, but I suspect she has moved them.

My renter has a Bengal lookin' cat that kills Rabbits. I don't stop her from torturing them because you aren't supposed to discourage mousers.

But I don't watch either. Rabbits or mice . . . All the same to her.

Ours (I've partially adopted her and named her "Simba" . . . accent on the 'm' and 'b') has left mice, a bird and one of two rabbits at my door.

She is not all that big yet and very fast. Looks like a streak across the back yard on the camera..

Our cats are elderly and just watch the rats and baby possums. Junebug is 15, the runt of her litter (and last survivor); she's a little thing and was the best climber I've ever seen. Harry is 17 and completely unrelated to Junie, despite them both being long haired tuxies; he used to bring in rodents, vs Junie's birds. These days they mostly sleep, June plastered against my thigh, Harry in my lap until the arthritis in his hips gets too painful. Once these two are gone, not too soon, I think we'll be pet free for awhile so we can travel more; we're not getting any younger ourselves.
