Snl

I read and hear that the parting episode/season ender for this year was actually pretty good. That would be a super rare occasion IMO. I haven't watched it in years now. Some of the people that just left had the capacity for funny, but didn't really have much to work with in a long time. I keep holding out hope that they will go from political commentary in jest and actually get back to just being funny in a non-political arena. Some years back they really hit a stride and was just a super fun show to watch. Perhaps in this off season while they vet some new talent they will either find some people with which the writers and the act work off each other in a fruitful way, or maybe find new writers as well.

There are so many examples.

Bill Brasky was epic. Mango and Garth Brooks, "EWW!!", Tell it to me straight, give me the scoop, the cheerleaders....so much really good stuff over the years. Lately, they have been in an entirely different business. I hope they can come back to their roots.

I think SNL just reflects American socitey, which has become extremely humorless as of late. Go back to some skits from the last century, or even just 10 years ago, and I think most would be career ending if done today.

As much of the content on the show is very politically charged, the discussion of that would delve into something for another sub forum. With that said, your assessment of a humorless society is spot on. Everyone is wearing their feelings on their sleeves nowadays and are so self important as to think others care.

Itís not that. You just aged out of the target market. You need to let it go.

You mean another milestone of my youth and immortal status is no longer relevant?

I don't need that type of negativity in my rose colored view. They changed, not me.

If by "some years back" you mean ~45-50 I might agree with you...maybe.

For several years now, I have watched SNL via the clips posted on their Youtube channel:
https://www.youtube.com/user/SaturdayNightLive/videos

Most often, I only watch the cold open, and the Weekend Update clips.

Iíve thought the same thing, then just realized my sense of humor was pretty sophomoric at the time. Probably has more to due with the fact that t when I liked it, I was entering the era where I was permitted to stay up past 10:00 but not yet be out of the house past 10:00 PM
