Disque Breaks will get us all killed!

You've now seen it on the internet, so it has to be true.

Yeah, in this case a picture is NOT worth a thousand words...it only creates desire for more words.

It's nearly impossible to get a left foot jammed in the rear cassette...... but somehow this man they call Hondo, made it happen..... That's what I heard anyway

Too many times I have had to stop my bike because of small dogs charging toward my bike wheels. The dog gets hit head caught in the wheel it would possible kill the ankle bitter and I would crash as well.

I have an old bike book that has a drawing of a cyclist activating a "Ben Hur hub" with blades to fend off the attacking canine.

This is the internet. Facts are irrelevant.

(See Hondo's chainsaw thread for more details.)

The first clue is the spelling of "disque breaks".

I recently talked to a homeless guy who had a rear derailleur, but no shifters on his bike. He said he shifted by hooking his foot under the chain and moving it from cog to cog. He claimed it was a faster and a much better system for changing gears. I believe Hondo was using a similar method to stop his chainsaw. It's also known as the "disque break" method and can be applied for many other purposes such as repelling dogs and opening doors.

FOO requires concentration and situational awareness. Don't let your guard down.
