I now wear glasses! (With pic)

After a long time of troubled vision and it getting worse, I finally saw an eye doc and got some glasses. I had some astigmatism and just general crappy vision.

Now, for the first time since First Grade, I wear glasses. I don't know if it will be permanent, but the difference is unbelievable.

I like this whole "seeing" things thing.

Anywhere, here's the picture of me and all of my nerdly goodness:

Aren't you glad you have health insurance?

You could always go with contacts if you don't like the way you look.

I don't have eye care insurance though, so it wasn't covered at all. I may be taking a new job very soon that will have "work related" eye insurance (to get safety glasses with my scrip)

Wouldn't stop me from looking like a nerd I'm fine with it. It's like a haircut. Takes a bit of getting used to, but then it's just normal.

Now that I'm sober:

I don't really have a problem with glasses. When I was young I did, which is why I stopped wearing them. I'm just happy to be able to see again.

It never occurred to me, before I got glasses, that things were clear. I thought everybody just saw things as fuzzy.

I'm color "blind". I see color, it's just I seem to see it differently than everyone else does. There's nothing they can do for it and it's not an issue in any real way. The only thing is when I try and describe the color of something and just get blank stares and then laughter when I explain I'm color blind.

That said, the spectacles look good on you. You picked some that seem to look right. I've worn reading glasses and I kind of like how they help me read even though I don't really need glasses.

You sound alot like me a about 5 years ago. I lived with poor eye vision for most of my life. It never reallllly effected me until I got a position as a manager and was required to start reading things from afar. Finally, broke down and got my eyes examined and got some glasses. I remember thinking, well I can always just wear them when I work. I don't think I've gone more then 15 minutes without wearing them in the last 5 years.

I'm 20, by "young" I meant "first grade".

Oh and by the way... drinking alcohol while eating for the first time with glasses on is a sure way to hit yourself in the lip with food a few times. I'm glad the walk home was only about 20ft.

after i got a new perscription and new glasses, i suddenly noticed everyone's imperfections. wrinkles, warts, moles, dry skin problems, etc. most people look a hell of a lot better when they're blurry.

Hahha. Yes. This was my first reaction and surprised me for a few weeks. Although for me, while it allowed me to see all of those things, I thought they were more beauitful / had more personality.
