Hotel Alarm Clock...

...somehow got set to "radio" mode instead of "buzz" mode this morning. Woke up to a song called "Gonna call on Jesus," and it's still stuck in my head.

At least the darn thing went off. Sometimes that's a lot to ask.

Be weirder if you met some mexican guy named Jesus (hay-zeus) and you had to call him later about something..

I'm still trying to find an alarm clock that imitates gun shots.

I would not like this. I hate being startled awake.

I also don't like being awakened slowly or calmly. And I hate waking up naturally.

Be careful when you represent your cousin in court not to pronounce "youths" as "yuts."

I think an alarm clock that shocks the crap out of the sleeper needs to be amde.

Just put a little clip on their finger, and when it's time to wake up ZAP!

No sound form the clock at all other than a slight crackling sound...all the neighbors hear is the screams from the now awake person.

...yes, I am a very odd little monkey....

Two related stories:

1. I once was scheduled for training up in Georgia at a job about 10 years go. The first morning I woke up to the hotel alarm clock, but I was so groggy and unused the clock I couldn't get the alarm to shut off. I was too groggy to open my eyes and look at it...I eventually literally picked it up (with head still in pillow) and slamed it hard enough on nightstand to shatter it. Ok....clock stopped.

2. In junior high I remember the local radio I listened to must have had a tape for the early morning hours, because my alarm was set to radio and EVERY MORNING all through 7th grade I not only woke up to the same song, but the same "part" in the song. Maybe you remember the song, "Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gaye. I would wake up EVERY MORNING in junior high to the part that goes "wake up, wake up, wake up...come make love to me". AAAaarrrrgh!

You could get an MP3 player with a built-in alarm, like an iRiver, and hook it up to speakers.

The only thing about waking up to gunshots, is that you'll end up having weird nightmares night after night of being chased by gunslingers, mobsters, gang-bangers, army dudes, etc.

Here's a tip. Most cell phones have pretty damn loud alarm clocks built in with every ringer you have available as an alarm sound.

yeah mine has that but

a) it only will go off once, i.e., it rings loudly for the length of the tone you choose, then shuts off

b) it's a pain to reset the alarm, or even set it in the first place, since you have to create an "alarm" event in the day planner

c) it has become unreliable over the past year because sometimes the alarm goes off but the tone/vibrate doesn't happen

d) I keep my phone on silent mode all the time

I've put a lot of thought into the alarm clock issue over the years, and I'm relatively happy with the solutions I use. They don't work 100% of the time, but I can live with that.

Nah.....I'd take care of that tent pole first thing in the morning and be good to go for the day. Come to think of it...not much has changed since then.
