Before using GoDaddy.com for DNS, listen to this...
(mods..please replace "hosting" in title to "DNS" ...I had a fit of the stupids)
They took down an entire datacenter over one machine, and being as big as they are, they apparently don't have true 24/7 staffing or ability to deal with issues....and on top of it, the rep was rather rude. According to the thread, they had a spam problem on that one machine, and got it fixed, then afterwards dropped him from the DNS tables. Being as large as they claim to be, not having proper staffing for anything is rather unprofessional.
I wasn't this guy, but I am pretty shocked to say the least...I used to work for a datacenter, and I was on call 24-7-365 unless using vacation time.

edit: page 11 of that thread goes into the real technical detail...Nectar is the admin for that datacenter. Pretty solid explanation of what happened, and how it was dealt with.

That's good to know. Too bad they don't show the commercials w/ the hot girl anymore to distract us from their lack of a true 24/7 NOC.

Definitely glad I didn't go with GoDaddy as my registrar. Yahoo had a better price anyway, although I don't think they're actually a registrar, but a reseller.

took me a while to understand what actually happened on that one as i was getting ready to call nectar a noob in the wrong business. all in all, godaddy shut off the wrong domain causing some big, bad dns stuff to go awry for anyone using nectar's nameservers.
godaddy used to be a fine registrar. we still use 'em. had fine customer service. i better go check none of our systems are compromised :) don't wanna get on godaddy's blacklist.

My job uses Network Solutions. No problems there. My personal domains are on GoDaddy, but DNS is handled well by the webhost.
