Long, sleepless night

I love it when you lay in bed, awake, until 3:30 when you have to be up at 6:30 to go to work. Not awake like "eyes resting", but awake like eyes wide open, thoughts racing through your head. Mostly I was thinking about how to get a leak in my ceiling fixed without my landlord knowing I have a cat (I've put it off for a while, and it is getting bad, but right above the bath tub, it can wait a little bit). Since I don't trust any of my friends to watch the cat, I need to figure something out.

Try a shelter or pet daycare. There is a doggy daycare in my area I'll be using this week while I fly up to NY for a few days. See if they have a kitty daycare in your area.

That is a brilliant idea! I never even thought of it. But, I would not be sure when the landlord would be coming to check it out. I wonder if I were to set up an appointment with the landlord to come at a certain time if that would work.

That's a good idea...I'd call landlord and try to schedule an appointment saying you want to "show" him to make sure he understands the problem or something like that. That way he think you need to be there and doesn't just come in and look when you are not there.

There's a yoga position that's supposed to almost guarantee good sleep.
Some people swear by it.
Sorry I can't provide more.
Yoga's on my to-learn-in-2006 list.

Isn't it funny when somebody posts an "answer" that obviously didn't read the original post? LOL

Try running every night. I used to have that staying awake problem, and now that I run almost daily, I'm too tired to be awake all night.

Two things about running: 1) I do, just not daily and 2) I wanted to run, but it was an all-day downpour. Besides, running won't stop an overactive mind.

No...I won't be there long enough to go for a ride. I'm coming up tomorrow night (won't get in until late afternoon). Interviewing with a company in Huntington on Friday, probably finished by early afternoon.

They have decided to let me stay one extra day, so I'll have Thursday afternoon and Friday to try to see any sights or check out the area. Not much time to "examine the area".

Ah k, so you'll be stuck out on Long Island. You can examine the lovely parking lot called the Long Island Expressway. Or you can hop the LIRR and come into NYC to see the sights. This is where renting a bike would help cuz you could get to the sights much faster to see them.

I just may consider doing this.

Gee, how do you cope? So much stress...

Wait till you have some real issues to deal with. If you can't sleep now, you are in real trouble!

I never told you the other things. In no particular order: Projects for a required class (graduating in may, margin for error is ZERO), getting a job, afffording the materials for that project and food to keep me alive at the same time, as well as getting enough sleep to go to work the next day and be able to pay attention in said class. If I were not graduating in three months, I would have rested easy just thinking about that one main thing, that has been a problem for weeks now and is growing mold on my ceiling. Stress can affect people who don't have "real issues".

Don't forget the camera. You can pick up a bike map from wherever you rent the bike or at any bike shop. If you wanna ride Thurs. night, PM me.

Take care of that mold, dude. It's a nasty thing! I had mold at my last apartment and for two years I had a lingering cough that the doctor diagnosed as chronic bronchitis that he said would stay with me forever

But, a couple of months after I moved out, my cough disappeared and never came back (that was over 3 years ago). I thought back to the mold that I found in the corner of my bedroom and I know the cough was due to the mold spores. The old landlord would only paint over the mold instead of treating it
