Water or Coke?

Somebody sent me this email about how Coke is deadly, blah, blah, blah...

I don't believe the all of the claims, they seem to far fetched. I figured i could quickly dismiss it as a hoax with a google search, but didn't really find anything saying it was a hoax. Yet I know it is crap. No way can a glass of coke disolve a nail in 4 days. B.S.!

Read it here or google "water or coke". http://www.inspiredliving.com/health/a~coke.htm

I'm just impressed with all the things Coke can do. I knew that Coke could take the corrosion off battery terminals, but I didn't know that Coke invented television and defeated the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III.

Phosphoric acid. It can take some paint off too. Soda is bad for you.

Yeah, don't soak your hand in Coke for four days. Drink the stuff, instead. Yes, Coke is highly acidic. So is orange juice. So are your stomach acids. Of the three, your stomach acids are the strongest.

And water, well, I think more people die in a day from overexposure to water (ie drowning) than have ever died from drowning in Coke. Water is deadly stuff!

According to some internet thing that calculated how much of stuff would kill you, I'd need to drink more than my body weight in coke for it to kill me. I would've thought drinking enough of anything to make my stomach explode would do that.

I drink Coke for the electrolytes and water to stay hydrated. You need a mix of both. Coke's actually good for replacing electrolytes and it's cheaper than Gatorade.

Don't know about Coke, but at the Indoor Auto Races in Atlantic City this week they pour Pepsi on the floor of Boardwalk Hall to give the cars better grip.

Mythbusters didn't do it right....you use the Coke SYRUP....the stuff restaurants get, and mix with carbonated water to get that coke that's always different from the can. The syrup is concentrated enough to work, but onced mixed is too diluted.

...phosphoric acid is nasty stuff....actually many bathtub cleaners use phosphoric acid.

We used to do this on fiberglass skateboard ramps to give our wheels traction. We just had to let it dry first

When I played soccer, I accidentally (due to a clumsy teammate) found that a bit of Coke on my keeper gloves made them extra sticky!

I was drinking a Coke a day, but I'm trying to cut down to one a week. I just love the taste but not the calories! Never any ill effects for me!

I don't really drink soft drinks anymore, but i don't think regular Coke is inordinately dangerous to humans, unless said humans drink it frequently. Diet Coke, on the other hand, is still pretty fishy, healthwise. The artificial sweeteners most Diet colas use are pretty suspect, in my understanding. But again, one every now and then won't hurt anyone.

I remember reading in the early '80s how they would do at indoor BMX races too, to give a little more bite on the wooden berms.

I personally dont care. I drink coke. Alot. I love the taste of it. Yet I still get plenty of water.
And on average I take in about....5 or 6 of those oz coke bottles a week. So either I have built up an immunity, or its all a hoax.
