One huge crab...

This thing is huge...

Can grow to be 4m (12ft) in diameter... that's like, the size of my bedroom.

I wonder if it would be possible to suck all the meat out of one of those things. Then after the incredible meal, you can keep the intact shell around on a plaque as a trophy!

I see ones very similar to that all the time here in New England when I'm scuba diving. Albeit...not 12ft!! But I've seen them close to 3 ft. And you know what?!...While I've never actually been pinched by one, they do seem "territorial" when you encounter the, for lack of a better word. A 12ft one of those would make me a bit wary.

I've been to that aquarium in the last picture. It is in Osaka and is the most spectacular I've seen. I recommend anyone visiting Osaka to check it out.

I saw one when out fishing once. The dorsal fin was so tall it couldn't stand up straight when it was above the surface of the water. Either that or the fin has the ability to flex for some reason.

Its a Whale Shark, not too common in these waters, but seen occasionally. They strain for plankton and small fish, and don't have "shark's teeth". The one we saw was 30 mi. offshore, and swimming through a small school of tuna that was in a feeding frenzy on the surface of the water. Tuna will herd schools of small fish into a ball, force them to the surface, and then cause the water to boil as they feed. After a while the bait fish seperate, regroup deep down, and the cycle gets replayed.
