BF's Jersey Design #2... graphic artists, start your engines!

https://www.bikeforums.net/general-cycling-discussion/222784-bikeforums-jersey-2-design-submission-open.html

I'm about to head out of town for the biggest organized ride in the area (Hotter than Hell Hundred) and I currently don't have a cool BF's jersey to wear and show off to 10,000+ riders. When I get home, I want to see lots of cool designs to choose from for our next BF's jersey!

I think this should be on the front or back of any BF jersey. Thanks penguinded.

You could move to SoCal and participate in our jersey design for the SoCal roadies.

[EDIT] Obligatory link

um, it's cool that you want to have a designer design you a jersey, but I have to eat, pay my mortgage, buy bikes, and occasionally get out with my girlfriend - all funded on my skills as a designer.

all i'm saying is:

I want to have a competition where all the accountants do my taxes. when they're all done, I'll use the accountant's work that get's me the most money back and they can put my name (and a photo too!) on their portfolios for the work they've done.

- or -

I'm looking for a plumber to come to my house and plumb a second bathroom. The one that can get it done the first will recieve $50 as long as their work lives up to a subjective standard I create but dont tell anybody..

(just realize that as a designer, unpaid "contests" for my time start to wear really thin. it's borderline unethical for you to even ask)

right. And another valid point is that no matter whether your design (mine, yours, anyone's) is chosen, you STILL have to put the time in to come up with it.

It's like the client that says " I want something really innovative and exciting, but don't put too much time into it."

Well I've been using photoshop for a couple years, and so far all the designs of anything I've seen on this forum I must say are almost horrible. I'll give it a try.

I understand your position, but it's not as if you're being mislead here. Probably the vast majority of professionals will have no interest, but maybe a couple will, and might consider it a worthy endeavor. What's the harm in asking?

That would actually need to be in red letters, and be a "ringer style" tshirt.

WE now have two designs!!! And in tune with naming the designs (i.e. Taxi design) there are the "Pedro" and "Cutters" designs.

He didn't ask for designers to do it for us, he asked us amateurs to come up with something. If you want to be paid to design a jersey, come up with a price range for doing the job and try and get this herd to pony up for it. Anyway, the winning designer gets paid - a free jersey

Pheard: I presume it will be using the same company as the current jersey? Their "design kit" is here (pdf file)
Hmmm, a pdf file?

Good catch on the spelling, but be careful on the 2nd part. Sheldon Brown licensed apparel could double the cost of the jersey.

Just my two cents but.....WTF was/is wrong with the jersey they just ordered!? Unbelievable!??!

I'm a graphic artist by profession and from what I understand is that among the reasons the jerseys never got ordered in the past was bickering over designs and indecision. The current design is fine IMO. Unfortunately I'm not on here enough anymore to have gotten a chance to be in on the order placed recently. But I hope the recent design ordered will be an option if more are ordered in the near future.

My prediction is it will take another 6 months... or... much longer to get a new design approved, because everyone will hem and haw over the design and the project, people doing the ordering will get frustrated and the order will go nowhere. Now if everyone said "Hey we just want a BF jersey and shorts, here's my size and my money, let's just use the existing design for now and get some more ordered."...I bet another order could be placed relatively soon. But my gut feeling, and past experiences says that won't be the way it goes down.

If we're talking about the yellow and blue one with the chain rings on it..yep...I think it's decent(not awesome, but decent). But I'm a roadie, so I don't mind the chainrings scheme. And yes, I'm a graphic artist and I made a fine living doing what I love. But I am not volunteering to design any bikeforums jerseys! Sorry. I have offered to do some designs for one person here on BF/Foo and they know who they are...and I ain't sayin'.
