This will make it a good day:
[names have been changed]
Hello M***, C**** and Scott,
I received a call from R*** and S*** today concerning tonight’s release. At no penalty to the team, [the client] would like to push the roll to Tuesday evening for the following reasons:
Want to have a completed regression testing for all areas
Identify a clean list of bugs and fix those bugs
Allow the business side to get caught up to our progress
What [the client] is committing too is:
No penalty for rolling to Tuesday because we met the metric of today
Make today a short day so people can be rested and ready for next week
R*** and S*** apologize that this is a last minute request and understand that people changed their schedules to accommodate tonight’s roll out
M***, please call me on my cell phone today to discuss.
You guys have knocked this out of the park! Thank you for all of your efforts. It is good to see the business side has not kept up.
Cheers,
[one of my bosses]
YEAH! Those JackF***kers.

So which group of ***'s is you? The way I read this, you should leave now, go ride, and then head to a micro brewery for mass consumption.

Sounds so much like what often happens here on big release days. Except we're the ones telling the client that they're not ready for us to go live. The day of, they finally listen to what we've been saying, freak out because they're not ready, and afraid we'll turn something on before they want... and we end up staying here late trying to rescue their butts from their superiors.
Oh, and I agree with Jsharr's assessment of the situation.
