One of my coworkers is engaged to a guy she met a while ago through It's Just Lunch.

She's gorgeous, too. Oh, and smart, brilliant, talented, etc.

Try the Army...I worked for me. The plus side is that you will have a mate that can watch your back and drop anything at 300 yards with a rifle.

The down side is that you will have a mate that can drop anyone they are mad at from 300 yds with a rifle.

That fact has always kept me in line...But the submission holds she was taught can be either downright painful or kinky.

I think OP should just get out more and do things on a regular basis. Go out to a coffee shop here and there, a book store, hiking, walking, grocery store...etc. Just start talking to people.

Get a really cute puppy and walk it at the local park or resevoir or anywhere. Women love little cutesy puppies and will flock to you. First they will be outside exrcising at the park which shows that they are at least somewhat into fitness which will mean that you have something in common.

Volunteer work? Same idea - volunteer at an animal shelter.

+1 on the dog/puppy idea... but only if you want a dog anyway.

Jeez...just commute with me through the park every morning. I can't even remember all of the girls who say hi. And no I am not kidding. Any guy who looks gainfully employed and half way motivated to do anything other than to just sit on their butt and order a woman around is apparently extremely appealing. My wife isn't too pleased about it, but I am absolutely not complaining to still be getting trolled at 47.

Your issue with meeting girls isn't the location so much as a problem with strategy. One of the problems is that you're thinking of "meeting girls" as some special event and you have to go out of your way to meet them. This makes you go out of character as well and you end up with the wrong attitude, such as when you go to bars. Notice how out of place and uncomfortable you feel when you meet chics in bars. That's going to be the exact same scenario no matter where you meet them because you think it's some kind of special event.

The first step is to not step out of character, be authentic and be who you are and go about your normal life doing the things you have to do and doing the things you enjoy. Make that the "location" where you meet women. From the first step out your front door, you're "meeting women" as a part of your normal daily life; commuting to work, at work, at lunches, in the grocery stores, getting gas, at the gym, on bike-rides, etc.

And if there's something about your personality or character that you don't like, then change it. If you want to be a better dancer, then take some lessons. If you feel you need to do some volunteer work to help people, then seek out local groups like Rotary. But do those things for yourself and your development, not to "meet chics". Make "meeting girls" a natural part of your daily life like brushing your teeth or eating lunch. They're everywhere!

Airport!!

I've been to the airport a few times to pick up a friend or (gulp) my girlfriend, and I always end up talking to some cutie on her way to a vacation somewhere warm or waiting to be picked up to go back home.

Yoga class. There are a ton of gorgeous, fit, flexible, single women at my wife's yoga classes.
Plus if she's taking yoga she'll stay fit and flexible over the years and can probably be talked into going on a ride too.
