Your favorite windows shortcuts...

Post them here.

Mine are:
Ctrl + Enter for putting the https://www.(________)com around words in the address bar.

Ctrl + F for find.

Ctrl + V for paste

Ctrl + C for copy

Ctrl + A for select all.

Ctrl + N to open a new window.

I think those are about the only ones i regularly use.

What's this "windows key" thing you speak of?

Also, I have plenty of PC's, a few Suns, etc. I heart my IBM Model M keyboard. Clickity clackity but no Windows Key.

BTW CTRL-Esc = "Windows key" and Alt-Space is the "Menu" key. I don't use Windows unless I have to. Oddly enough, I am a Windows Registry, Filesystem ACL and Active Directory GPO GURU. I'd just rather not be stuck babysitting Windows servers (or desktops, or users) all day.

IBM has an app that makes the alt button function as the windows key ... my first install on any IBM thinkpad

I work in desktop support i kinda like it though , especially people that refer to the PC as a Dell modem.

My favorite windows shortcut is "foot, swing, boom".

It removes gremlins from my hard drive.

Honestly, whenever I've had to use Windows, I find the Alt key functioning properly as the Alt key would probably be better than having it function as the windows key. How would you Alt-tab, Alt-F4, etc?

It's smart and does what you want it to do if there is not a windows key shortcut associated with it .. and you can set it up to function how you want it. hey there's always the other alt key.

Alt+tab= switch between windows

Ctrl+tab= switch between a programs windows (like firefox, among others)

Ctrl+w= close firefox tab

Ctrl+t=new firefox tab

Alt+space then either R to restore window size, or N to minmize (or windows key+M), or X to maximize

Alt+F4= close program or active window in some programs

I also have many many shorts for Adobe Illustrator ingrained into my head, most are custom and only work on my machine.

I aslo have Firefox set to start searching as I type, so I can surf without a mouse. Just type a series of letters that appear in the link you want, then either hit enter to go, or Ctrl+Enter to open that link in a new tab.
