Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

My Gramps passed this morning

95 years on this world, most of it in great health.

I'll miss him, because most of what is decent in me came from his lessons.

He passed at 4:00 AM in his sleep.

Wow....three Fooster grandparents in about a 2 month period. Sorry Tom....but glad he died easy and had a long life.

Reminds me of the three parents deaths we had here at work....me, lady in cube next to me, and guy in cube across from her. My mom died, Roberta's mom died and Tom's dad died all within a 1 week period.

Heartfelt condolences, Tom. No matter how much you try to anticipate it, that finality, when it comes, is still a heartbreaking shock. I empathize. ((hugs)) PM/email me if you need someone to hear your heart.

If we understand aright the dignity of this bell that tolls for our evening prayer, we would be glad to make it ours by rising early, in that application, that it might be ours as well as his, whose indeed it is.
The bell doth toll for him that thinks it doth; and though it intermit again, yet from that minute that this occasion wrought upon him, he is united to God.
....

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
