EJ123, you are the cutie! Are you so tall, or is your sister just, um, "short"? She's gorgeous, too. You guys are so good-lookin' all dressed up! Congrats to her!

Nice, Brandy! And thanks for sharin' those pics, gf! But why doesn't he like to ride behind YOU? <curious Vega look> Sorry. It had to be asked on behalf of our very polite lurking male contingent.

You're welcome. He rides in front because I'm motivated by the view. He's MUCH faster than I am, so we do our own thing on events and he'll usually ride the course in reverse to come back for me after he finishes. That was Butterfield Double, my first Double Century and he stuck with me from mile 40-200...totally unexpected, but MUCH appreciated as I really struggled with the heat that day and went through many lulls that he talked me through.

I did get to pull yesterday, and then dropped him. He was doing the double century and I was doing the century (the middle 100 miles of the double)...again, we had no plans to ride together, but he was struggling after going out hard with the lead pack and hammering for 50 miles. By the time he caught me he was really suffering and it was starting to get HOT out and I ended up dropping him several times (that has NEVER happened before) and he would recover and catch me an hour or so later. As much as he struggled he still managed a 5th place finish on the double (unofficial...I'm dying waiting for results on my event too...no patience for this stuff!!) and improved his time from last year by almost two hours! <~~~yes, I'm proud of him.

That's the mark of a great friend. Keep him.

Heh. This happens sometimes with someone with whom I ride. Usually on hills.

Yeah, I'm the same way after TT! I just wanna know how I did, and did I ride faster than certain other women in my age category?

EXACTLY! Here's the thing that sucks...there's no knowing how you did by looking around at the finish because there isn't a mass start. Start times yesterday were from 8:00-9:00...so there could have been women at the finish that started much later than I did, and totally kicked my ass. It drives me crazy waiting for results, but they were entering our finish times directly into a laptop yesterday, so I'm hoping that they post them sooner.

Oh...and I totally hear you on the certain women comment. I always check the results from last year and then compare it to who is on the roster for this year. Based on the preliminary standings from the first two events, I'm in 6th place for the series, but the event yesterday was very challenging for me. It was supposed to be the easiest of the three as it had about 4000 fewer feet of elevation gain, but it was unbelievably hot out there and I struggled because of the heat. My century time wasn't bad (7:06) but I can't even be happy with that until I know where I placed. I might be a wee bit competitive.

Gangsta:

The only picture I know of that I'm smiling in, thanks to the girl I am with, tonight was one of the best nights I have EVER had, even though there was a brief police ***** out (Apparently showing up to grad in a 1974 ford lifted 40" on eight, thats right EIGHT 54" tires with a blown 460 isn't a good idea.)

Oh, baybuh! Such great pics! I'm so proud to call ya my Foo-son.

And you should smile more often, dammit. If only for me. You do have a nice smile. <serious Vega look>

And let me know if the fuzz is givin' my favorite fella "problems." <'nother serious, but kickass, Vega look>

Edit: Tell yo' Foo-mom a bit more about this special girl. Does she ride a bike? Is she willing to do so? <concerned Vega look>

It was probably for the best anyways, we wanted the most attention when we showed up, everybody was showing up in limos, rods and exotic cars, we showed up in a truck that took up two lanes.

Only about a half dozen people didn't stare when we rolled up in it, and then two cruisers showed up with full lights a minute later, then everybody WAS staring. Reason being? The truck was to big for the road, go figure .

That just pisses yo' Foo-mom off. I remember my prom date took me to prom, and he managed to borrow his parents' '78 Celica, vs drivin' his rather loud and tempestuous '57 F150(?) pickup. Had he done so, might have caught the attention of the wussy police here, too. Almost as if they have nothing better to do on prom night, eh? , again.

Baybuh, nothing wrong at all with your wheels. Can't believe that anyone there would have thought so, either, after a first glance.

Heh, heh... my date actually drove us to the prom. I'll try to find a picture...

Hmmm, I usually don't like photos of myself because I didn't take them. Here's one that turned out OK:

I would disagree, but I can see how the police wouldn't care much for it. Happen to have a picture of this monstrosity?

Thanks Vega, I will definitely let you know how I did. I'm tossing around the idea of TT's next year, so I'd love to hear how your season has gone. I haven't decided though, it's going to be hard to train for climbing/ultra events and TT's at the same time. We'll see.
