Dr. Oboeguy

I passed the Ph.D. dissertation defense today with flying colors. A few revisions in the next couple of days are needed before "depositing" the diss and it's graduation next week! Woohoo!!!

Congratulations, Dr. Oboeguy, Ph.D.

I've just started the writing process, so I've got a while before defense. You are right where I want to be.

Although earning your doctorate is an amazing accomplishment, I'm still much more impressed that you climbed Haleakala with your folding bike.

Way to go!

Dr. Oboeguy, B.F.D. Awesome.

My sister (Ph.D., Art History) had a cartoon on her fridge for years which may have some appeal to you. A gaggle of professorial types were seated around a table. At the far end, a woman was standing, turned to the side and punching the nose of the twedd-jacketed prof-type next her, to his surprise and dismay. At the near end of the table, a second prof-type is saying to the next fellow over: "An excellent defense. Let's give her the doctorate."

Tought (and fascinating) field Oboe- mine's in Information Science (specializing in search optimization) so we're somewhat related. Congradulations! Don't ya just hate those little "fixes" at the end? They're so anti-climactic.... Have a beer on me

Indeed, the little fixes are a PITA when up against a deadline. I'm deathly afraid of introducing a typo, if nothing else. Fortunately, for the extra numerical results the committee wants, I was able to run some code overnight. Phew!

Awesome!

I'm sure you know well the pain of explaining to friends and family that you'll be done with the thesis in 2 months or 2 years depending on how the next set of analysis works out.

Now go to law school and really freak them out.
