WoW is OK, but I have been quite impressed with EQ2. EQ2 plays a lot like WoW, but has more PvE content and the player (base for the most part) is of a higher quality. Plus, I like the old fashioned healer class from AD&D that wears heavy plate and can keep a group up while taking heavy damage, so I have a templar as my main there.

EQ2 was good when it came out, then they screwed the economy through too many changes too soon.

....then when they started nerfing things that made no difference in game (rugs)....I said screw SOE....cancelled my acct.

I'll stick to EVE online....I'm a PvP person anyways, and that's EVE's entire point....PVP at every level (economic PVP, combat PVP, even espionage...if you have a mean streak running in your veins, that's the game for you)

My WoW days ended with a severe ban...I was known for causing trouble, and I pissed off a few too many GMs on the same day.

so people keep saying - I got sick of the, for me at least, vertical learning curve (or maybe I'm just slow :/ ) but yeah, tried it for a month, struggled badly and gave up.

The game isn't that hard once you get the basics out of the way.

4 damage types: Kinetic, Thermal, EM, and Explosive. All NPCs have a weakness to one damage type....so be versatile.

Two primary fitting issues to work with on a ship: CPU and Powergrid. (Powergrid comes easy, CPU does not, but at first powergrid will be your biggest problem)

Everything can be solved through a combination of equipment and skillpoints. (mostly skillpoints, Get Engineering IV ASAP)

There are skills to increase every aspect of your ship, just spend a while looking at skillbooks in the market to see what does what, then make a gameplan on what to buy and when.

Finally, nobody is your friend until they have proven yourself, and even then should be suspect.....I don't even trust those that are in my regular groups.

Tactics for combat PvP are a bit more complex, just figure out what the average layout is and work on defeating that....too many idiots just follow the "best" (usually some layout that's been on battleclinic for a year now) layouts like sheep, and then get violated when they encounter a specialized ship layout like the kinds I roll with (my designs are based on my own research of game mechanics, I don't hand that info out, since then everyone + dog will be rolling that layout).

Economic PvP is just that, be a better merchant than everyone else....this will involve having to form a trade organization (corporation) at some point in time and contracting defense or making your own defense forces to defend your trade vessels. It's really fun to monopolize all railgun ammo in a region full of people that want to kill you. Egging them on, just to have them fill your pockets with ammo they will try (unsucessfully) to kill you with is nothing short of epic win.

Social PvP (espionage) is frowned upon heavily, but is common in game....many people will join a corp, get into their upper ranks, and then steal everything, leaving the corp high and dry. The truly nasty will gather defense and tactical information and sell that to an enemy corp for coin and promise of employment.

Then you have lowly scammers that will try to sell you "really good deals" on ships through the contract system....avoid those. Scamming is legal in game, so if you feel like trying your hand at it (at cost of your reputation), then go for it.

No problemo...I have a crazy fast learning curve with this kind of thing...if you ever get back into it I can get you started with a skillplan and possibly whatever modules you can use that I have sitting around. I usually have some small railguns and lesser shield upgrades sitting around that aren't really worth reprocessing into minerals or selling in such small quantities(I'm Caldari).

I have been playing elder scrolls oblivion on my xbox...hooked for right now. I still refuse to pay a monthly fee to play a video game online. So when I feel like playing online I still play Diablo 2
