What to do in Orlando, FL?

Anyone been to Orlando? I'll likely visit friends and family in the area sometime in October... and I would very much like to keep amused while there.

What should a young man such as myself do while there?

You might have some luck posting a similar query on the Southeast Regional Discussion forum.

I never spent enough time in Orlando that didn't involve being in a hotel for conferences, etc., to know what there is to do. But Bucca di Beppo was a great place for some awesome Italian food served family style.

Gosh, theme park central.

Disney, MGM, Epcot, Universal, and a whole SLEW of others.

Then there's the dinner theaters, Medieval Times, Wild Bill's, Arabian Nights.

Let's not forget standard stuff like Downtown Disney (with a Cirque De Soliel).

Only THE biggest Amusement Park in the world there! If someone can't find anything to do in Orlando, you better be lookin' for a funeral home.

It's been ten years or so since I lived there, so things might have changed a bit. I'd personally stay away from the whole Lake Buena Vista area. Hit up Church St. Station, that seemed like a pretty cool place. I remember Lake Apopka being pretty nice.

DISNEY WORLD!!! Seriously, it's not just for kids. I LOVE Disney World, and I'd go back every year if I could afford it.

I haven't been in over 10 years, but I know Church Street Station is still there. My brother, just last year, went and was talking about it.

And I, personally, agree with you about avoiding the Lake Buena Vista (Disney) area.

I live in orlando and it all depends what you enjoy doing, or better yet what you wanna do while your here. Family fun, Disney, Universal...so on. Wanna party downtown Orlando Church St., Wall Street...they close down the street and its like 5 clubs you can bar hop, live music. Its a great time. But anyhow....it all depends what you wanna get out of it.

I live less than 50 miles from Disney, and I think the last time I went was when I was 14 in 1984. I've never even been to Epcot or Universal Pretty bad, huh?

Sounds like we are same age; I lived in Tampa area (about 65-70 miles away).....I did Epcot in 1989, that was my last time.

If you're broke and bored, squashing palmetto bugs (aka giant flying roaches) is kind of satisfying - if in a gruesome way.

I hate palmetto bugs. They rove around in gangs and carry switchblades. One time some of them stole my wallet, they told me that if I told anyone that they would kill me. What's that noise?

Look up a place called Orange Blossom Trail. It's also called OBT down there. There are lots of girls there that will willingly go out with you. They walk up and down the streets and wait for guys to pick them up. They must play golf because many of them have reputations as "Hookers".

Oh yeah.....Don't forget to take $20 with you.

I was going to mention staying away from OBT, but I figured if no one mentioned it there would less of a chance of him actually going there.

I can tell you one thing. One of them little *******s lands on you, your body can do things you never knew it could. One lands on your back and you will fall straight backwards, not worring about using your arms to break your fall, risking it all to get it off. If you had a hammer in your hand and one landed on your head, you wouldn't even think about it. You will have hit yourself with the hammer before you even knew what happened.

Are you talking about palmetto bugs or the prostitutes on OBT?
